Alec POV
I have no idea how long I sat in the tree for. Judith had closed her eyes a while ago but I couldn't help but stare. The way she slept gave me a calm feeling, feeling relaxed like never before. Almost like I had no emotion other than calm. For once my body wasn't so tense and I could feel relaxed.
Everyone gathered round looking at the small body in aunt Harri's arms. It took so much self control to stay put and not run in there and take her into my arms. To shield her from the horrors of the world, to protect her with all I have. Nothing prepared me for this, I thought I'd never find my mate and now she's here. She's been there for so long.
It didn't occur to me this is the reason I felt so drawn to aunt Harri. Not to her directly, but to touch her bump and talk to the baby. I always wanted to be there to feel the pup kick. It seemed strange to me that it was happening but now it all made sense. I stayed away so no one thought I was weird for wanting to touch aunt Harri's bump all the time, I just didn't think the small pup would be my mate.
A small yawn escaped her lips making me coo at the sight. My heart flipped encouraging me to go in there and hold my mate close to me. It wasn't until I got a buzz from my phone from my dad, Dustin, to come and see the baby properly. Not that I delivered and cleaned her or anything. Even then I felt so hesitant to lay her in her mothers arms, but I forced myself to.
To keep the peace I jumped from where I was and walked into the house. I could hear the family talking upstairs as I walked up the stairs to join them. When I got to Harriette and Damien's door the scent of the pup hit me full force making me want to take her into my arms. To never let anyone hold her other than me.
Once I entered I stood by my dad, Ryker, who nudged my arm with his elbow. "You alright kiddo?"
"I'm good." I forced a smile then lost it. "Just a lot you know. Needed a bit of space."
"She's so cute, no? Reminds me when Lola was born." He chuckled.
"Yeah I remember." I smiled a little remembering the day my little sister was born.
Looking back at Harriette, she handed Judith to Damien who had tears in his eyes. He looked down at her with so much love, then leaned down to kiss her forehead. "Thank you so much for this gift, Harri." He whispered.
"It takes two to make a baby Damien. I should be thanking you because I couldn't have done it without you." Harri laughed.
"And I wouldn't of got her if you didn't grow her. It was mostly you babe. So thank you." He stated and leaned down to kiss her being careful of the pup in his arms.
"Right, now I've held my daughter, who wants to hold her next?" Damien asked. Everyone immediately started arguing who would hold the baby next while I stood away keeping my eyes on Judith.
"I don't want any of you to hold her yet." Harriette called out stopping all arguments.
"What?" Dad, Dustin, and Harriette's dad called out.
"I don't want any of you holding her yet." She shrugged. "To say thank you for getting my daughter in this world safely, I want Alec to hold her before anyone else."
"Uh, no it's okay. Let everyone else, it's fine." I replied.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Here." Damien walked over to me and held out Judith. Slowly I replaced Damien's hand under her neck and bum and laid her in my arms. The sparks ran up my arms making my heart burst at the sight of the cutest pup I've ever seen. A smile made its way on to my lips, not just a small one or forced one, but a genuine smile.
Judith opened her eyes meeting mine. My heart rate picked up no doubt everyone else could hear it while I held my mate for the first time properly. The time where I could hold her for as long as I wanted without having to pass her to her mother and father. Now knowing she's my mate and holding her, I never want to let he go.
Her deep blue eyes bore into mine making me feel all kinds of things. Love, adoration, a huge sense of calmness. Nothing sexual or desirable, I guess that'll come when she's much older. Thankfully that will come later on so I don't look like some creep with Judith.
"Do you want to let the others hold her now, Alec?" My dad, Ryker, asked.
"Not yet." I whispered keeping my eyes on Judith's. "Just a few more minutes."
I tuned out what everyone was saying. I was too focused on the little yawn Judith let out. Is this what finding your mate feels like? If it is, I'm glad I finally found her.
A/N: Hiii, so first chapter down. How'd everyone find it? I hope you enjoyed it let me know in the comments.
