Alec POV
After leaving for a couple hours, I returned to the house where I heard Judith crying inside. It wasn't her usual hungry cry or needing to be changed, it was more than that. As soon as I opened the door I could see aiden trying to calm his granddaughter.
"What's going on?" I frowned looking at a frantic mother and father worrying over their baby.
"She's been so unsettled for hours. No one knows what's wrong with her." Elena told me.
"Is she hungry?" I questioned.
"Tried that. She won't latch on." Harriette replied.
"Uhm, maybe she needs changing?" I shrugged.
"Done. She doesn't need anything done." Damien sighed. "What could be wrong with her?"
"Should we take her to the pack doctors?" Dad, Ryker said. "Maybe she has something medically wrong with her."
"No it's not medical." Shelby stated. "I don't know but it's not medical."
"Then what's wrong with my baby? Why is she so unsettled?" Harriette cried.
My heart yearned to have Judith in my arms, so slowly I stepped towards her. When I was stood in front of aiden, Judith's cries died down but barely. Reaching out my arms, I slid my hands to pull Judith to my chest. I hushed her while gently rocking her feeling the sparks go through my body. Judith's cries simmered to small ones and after a few minutes stopped completely.
Silence filled the house no longer echoing Judith's strong cries. Every so often she'd let out a whimper but that also stopped when I rubbed my hand on her back and didn't stop. Her soft breaths filled the room, no one speaking just looking at me calm Judith.
"Where should I lay her?" I looked at Harri.
"You can lay down and keep her on your chest. Is that okay?" She replied. I nodded and laid on the sofa with Judith on my chest. Her chest against mine with her cheek on my shoulder letting me feel her soft breaths on my neck. It comforted me, so much my eyes closed letting me drift off to the most peaceful sleep I've ever had.
Dustin POV
"How'd he do that?" My husband whispered. Harriette smiled with her head resting on Damien's shoulder while the rest of us had confusion.
"I don't care how he did it, I'm just glad Judith stopped crying." Damien frowned blowing out a breath. "I never want to hear my daughter like that again. Never."
"I think most men are like that with daughters." Aiden chuckled. "I'm sure the rest of us have been like that with our little girls."
"It still doesn't explain why she was screaming bloody murder." He muttered.
"I'll tell you later." Harriette whispered to him.
"Tell me now." Damien looked at his mate.
"I can't. Later I promise." She smiled softly at him.
"Do you think Alec has a part to play in this?" Ryker muttered lowly to me while the others spoke.
"I don't know. Maybe Judith has a favourite person and that's Alec. I mean all the kids in the family had favourite people when they were younger. Look at Lola and Derek." I told him.
"I guess." He puffed out a breath.
Looking at my son sleeping with the baby on his chest had me smiling. Never have I seen my boy so relaxed in years. It was nice to see him calm not tense and angry all the time.
"We need to lay her down in her Moses basket babe." Damien said to Harri.
"I know." She sighed. "I don't want to move her. They both look so calm."
"I'll do it." Damien kissed Harriette's cheek before standing up from the sofa and walking to his daughter. Gently, Damien lifted Alec's hand only to get a deep growl fill the room. Clearly not liking the disrespect, Damien growled back only to get Alec glare at him. Once again Alec growled not backing down from Damien. All while Harriette sat to the side giggling to herself.
"Alec you need to let go of Judith so she can be laid down." Ryker told him.
"No." Alec growled out and turned on his side shielding Judith from all of us.
I laughed at my sons behaviour while Harri laughed at Damien's shocked face. Clearly he didn't think Alec would be like that at all.
"I can't believe he just growled at me." Damien frowned. "Can you believe that?" He looked at his mate.
Harriette nodded while laughing not being able to contain it. "Yes I can believe that."
