Every All Souls’ Day, Filipinos observe a long-standing tradition of visiting cemeteries to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away. Some families even choose to stay overnight, sleeping beside the graves, because it is often the only time they are reunited as a whole.
My friends and I, however, were different. Instead of candles and prayers, we sought abandoned establishments and deserted houses, drawn by the thrill of ghost hunting. It had become our ritual, our own way of spending All Souls’ Day together, year after year.
We never imagined that our reckless fascination with the unknown would lead us not to stories to tell, but straight into death itself.
