It wasn't like you were that popular in school. You had your small group of friends and you mostly kept yourself to yourself during lessons. What this did mean, however, is that you were more often than not the butt of the class clown jokes.

English was particularly bad because non of your friends were in the class and you sat next to Harry, possibly the most intolerable people in your year.

"Oi, Oi. Here she comes boys!" Harry yelled out when you approached your usual seat before the teacher had arrived.

You kept your head down as you usually did; making sure that your long fringe covered your eyes. As you sat down though, you did catch eyes with Nick.

He sat on the table along from you next to Charlie and was supposedly friends with Harry. Not that you really saw the two of them speak to each other much.

"Leave it out" Nick said quietly and, whether it was because Harry heard him or not, he didn't speak to you for half the lesson. Much to you relief, of course.

The lesson was fairly enjoyable; you were good at English and Mr Jenkins always told you how well you were going to do. Using your high achievement as the reason for his seating plan.

"You'll be a good influence on Harry" He told you after a lesson one day.

Now though, he was talking about Shakespeare and his influence on modern English.

"Who gives a fuck" You heard Harry mutter under his breath for what felt like the hundredth time that lesson.

Just as the class opened their books and began working on their own work, Harry turned to you and looked over your shoulder.

"Let me copy you dickwad" He hissed as to not be heard by Mr Jenkins.

You felt your stomach churn a little as you began to revel your page of work.

"Don't show him" Nick snapped and you glared over at him and noticed how fierce Nick looked. Even Harry looked over in shock.
"What did you say, Nelson?"
"I said don't show him" Nick said louder this time and a few people looked around
"It's fine-" You started, pushing your book towards Harry in an effort to defuse the situation
"No it's not" Nick started to get up

"Trying to impress your boyfriend Nick?" Harry sniggered, referring to a very uncomfortable Charlie. You watched as Nick's face became even more icey
"What did you say?" Nick stood at your desk now, leaning over Harry who was still seated.

"Uh- what's going on over here?" Mr Jenkins started to come to the back of the classroom from his desk, "Nick?"

"I said, are you trying to impress your boyfriend?" Harry repeated, ignoring the teacher now coming over to you all.

You usually didn't like to witness any form of confrontation, but there was something about seeing Nick fight back that made you not want to look away. By the looks of everyone else in the class; they hadn't seen this side of Nick either.

Harry began to get up too, but Nick pushed him back down by his shoulders.

"Right!" Mr Jenkins finally intervened having decided that he had finally seen enough, "That's enough, Nick!"

"Me!" Nick turned quickly to face the teacher, "Harry's the one picking on Kiera!"
"I said enough!" Mr Jenkins closed his eyes tightly as if it pained him to speak the words, "Faculty office, now!"

With a loud huff, Nick snatched his bag from next to his chair and marched out of the classroom.
