Ben hurts Charlie P2

A part two too good not to write!! Thanks to imveryyygay for the idea <3 I acc love how you all come up with part two ideas where I can't haha. Anyways, enjoyyyy

It had been three weeks since Ben dumped Charlie and Charlie went from completely distraught to just feeling low. He was glad for Nick though, he was a distraction. Even if it did mean more confusion.

"He's definitely straight, look at him" Tao said one lunch time.

They all cast their eyes over to Nick play fighting with his rugby friends.

"I know, but he's nice to me at least"
"You just want a rebound after Ben" Tao rolled his eyes now and Charlie couldn't help but feel irritated. Why weren't his friends ever just happy for him?

Tao was probably right though. Charlie did feel incredibly lonely since Ben left. Maybe Nick just being friendly was making him think there was something more. After all, that was what Ben accused him of - being too much. Jumping to conclusions.

By the fourth week after Ben, Charlie felt really confused and lonely. So it's no surprise that he got butterflies when he got a DM from Ben. He was asking 'to talk'.

Immediately, Charlie's mind raced with hopeful thoughts. Maybe he's seen sense, maybe he's realised he made a mistake and wants to get back together again. Or at least apologise and make things civil.

So they arranged to meet in their usual English classroom at lunch.

"I'll be fine!" Charlie protested, getting up from between Tao and Toby, "He probably just wants to apologise"
"Well I'll stand outside just in case" Tao said, getting up too, "Then I can burst in like a ninja when he tries to punch you"
"Tao!"

So the two of them made their way to the classroom.

"Just wait outside and don't make a scene"
"Fine"

Charlie looked through the small panel of glass in the door to make sure Ben is already there. He is. In his usual position - sat at the middle table scrolling through his phone. But Charlie doesn't get the same rush he felt four weeks ago when he saw him.

He put his hand on the handle and Tao whispered, "Good luck, my friend"

Charlie walked in, trying to seem confident and calm. A difficult thing to pull off when you feel so anxious about what the person you've just walked in on is going to say.

"Charlie" Ben almost whispered, sounding relieved, "You came" He stood up
"You wanted to talk"

A tactical response, Charlie thought.

"Yeah- I um" Ben cleared his throat, "I've been thinking"
Charlie moved closer, but not too close.
"Me and Elizabeth broke up" Ben said, changing his tone to more confident, "And I'm sorry about everything I said" He added quickly, "I'm stupid"

Charlie still didn't say anything, expecting more so Ben spoke again.

"I-I'm not ready to come out yet but" He trailed off, clearly this was hard for him to say, "I do like guys- I like you" He reiterated, "And I-"
"But being gay is wrong, remember?" Charlie said a little more playfully than he should have.
"Maybe I was wrong, I'm allowed to be wrong aren't I?" Ben walked closer, closing the gap between them, "And I like you, Charlie - isn't that enough?" Ben's tone went cold, "I said I'm sorry - like I said, I'm sorry. I really am I just want us to go back to how we were" He leant in and touched Charlie's lips.

Normally, Charlie would lean in too but he edged back in shock.

"I don't know" He stammered
"What do you mean, you don't know" Ben said, irritated, "I said I like you" He advanced again, this time putting his hand to the back of Charlie's head and forcing him into a kiss, "I like you" He muttered between pecks.

Charlie used all his strength to push Ben off him.

"Hey!" Nick shouted from behind Charlie, "Get off him!"

Before Charlie knew what was going on, Nick had barged in and had pushed Ben to the floor, "Get the fuck off him!"

No one noticed, but Tao crept in behind Nick. Feeling deflated that he wasn't Charlie's knight in shining armour.

"Nick" Charlie gasped, still coming to his senses, "What-". But Nick wasn't listening
"Don't come near him again, you got that?!" Nick shouted over Ben's cowering frame, his voice easily filled the room and Charlie felt strangely protected. Watching as Nick towered over Ben, unable to stick up for himself against the Rugby captain.

"Are you alright?" Nick suddenly turned to Charlie, his tone so much calmer and kinder. Presenting as almost a different person to the one who just shoved Ben to the ground.
"Y-Yeah" Charlie stammered, still trying to work out what had just happened
"Come on, let's go" Nick walked to the door, "Leave this low life" He said, turning to direct that at Ben who had just got up.

Tao scurried out first and Nick and Charlie followed, leaving Ben in the classroom.

"Fucking hell, he's a piece of work" Nick muttered, sighing heavily. Letting out his adrenaline from the confrontation.

"Thank you for that" Charlie muttered, starting to find his voice again
"Don't worry-" Nick started, but Tao interrupted
"I obviously would have done the same, but Nick got there before me"

Nick and Charlie shared a glance before laughing.

"I know you would" Charlie giggled.
"I was gonna charge in like a ninja" Tao muttered just loud enough for only Charlie to hear.

He would never know how Nick got there first, but Charlie was grateful for it. Nick protected him and that meant something. Even if it was just that Nick thought of Charlie as a friend.

Friends look out for each other and Nick showed that today.
