You stick up for Charlie

It was the last period on a Friday and you had maths. Your least favourite subject and it felt like salt in the wound that it was the last hurdle before the weekend.

As you walked down the corridor you could hear people being louder than usual.

It wasn't until you got further down the corridor that you saw Charlie, a year 10, surrounded by Harry from your year and all his friends.

Charlie's head was down, trying to keep walking while the group was teasing him about being gay. You watched for a second longer before intervening. You couldn't stand there and watch while this sort of thing was going on.

"Oi, Harry!" You called out, your voice echoed through the corridor and everyone looked round, including Charlie, "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
"You gonna stand for that, Harry?!" One of his friends shouted

"And who are you?" Harry started walking towards you, but you weren't scared of a bit of confrontation. If anything, you were in the mood for it seeing as you were already annoyed you had maths on a Friday afternoon.
You scoffed, "Leave Charlie alone"
"Or what?" Harry got even closer and you instinctively pushed him away. Making all his friend start laughing
"Harry, leave it" You heard Nick say and you gave him a side glance. He looked just as uncomfortable as Charlie.
"Why, is Charlie your boyfriend?" Harry mocked and Nick looked even more uncomfortable.
"I'm starting to think your gay, Harry, with the amount of times you bring it up" You shot back at him and you couldn't help but notice Nick smirking slightly
Harry didn't say anything so you took your opportunity to strike again, "Have you got a crush on Charlie or something?"
"Fuck off!" Harry shouted and you held your hands up in surrender
"Sorry, didn't mean to hit a nerve"

Nick laughed and Harry turned on him instantly "You think this is funny?"
"Oh, get over yourself Harry!" You scoffed, "I'd go if I were you, you'll be late for lesson and how will mummy and daddy react to that? Their little Prince-"
"Don't you fucking dare!" Harry grabbed you by the tie which took you by surprise, but you didn't let it show
"My bad, I've hit another nerve!" You joked, looking past him to look at Nick who laughed again, "Just go Harry, you're embarrassing yourself" You said more quietly so his friends couldn't hear.

Without another word, Harry let go of you and walked away. His little followers traipsed behind; apart from Nick, of course.

"That was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen!" Charlie beamed once they were out of earshot
You just shrugged, "I kinda feel bad for him, kid's obviously got some issues"
Charlie laughed, "Thanks by the way"
"Don't mention it, it's been a while since I pissed someone off" You said, "It felt good" You looked at Nick who was just awkwardly standing there, "I'd stop hanging out with them"
