This is a longer one. I just love the dynamic between these two ;')

It was Friday afternoon, the bell had just gone which meant home time. When they were younger, this meant the weekend had started, but now both Nick and Charlie knew that they had work to do. Nick needed to start revising for his GCSE's and Charlie knew he had a pile of homework to get through. All of which was due next week.

"I just don't understand how you're so good at maths" Nick wined as the two of them were walking out of school
"If you want, you can come to mine and I can help you revise?" Charlie said without thinking and immediately regretted it.

He liked Nick a lot; probably too much and even though Nick said he liked Charlie back, Charlie was worried about being too clingy. It's what his previous boyfriends said about him.

"Okay" Nick said, as if it wasn't a weird suggestion at all. It caught Charlie by surprise so much that he didn't say anything else until they got to the bus stop outside the school gate.

"Don't you have to tell your mum where you are?"
"She thinks I'm going to rugby practise" Nick shrugged
"Don't you want to go to that instead of coming to mine?" Charlie asked, his self-doubt creeping in again. Why would someone want to miss something they enjoy to be in his company instead?

"Mum doesn't know how bad I am at maths" Nick explained, "I honestly think I'm going to fail it, but she can't know that. She'll get me a tutor or something"
Charlie laughed
"And I'd rather you be my tutor" Nick added and Charlie couldn't help but blush a little bit.

The two of them got on the bus; after Nick paid his fare, and chatted the whole way back to Charlie's house.

"Mum, Nick's here!" Charlie shouted out as soon as he opened the door. He didn't want her saying something to embarrass him.
"Ah, Nick!" Charlie's mum emerged from the lounge with a big smile on her face, "It's lovely to see you!"
"You too, Mrs Spring"
Charlie's heart melted at Nick's politeness.
"Are you staying for dinner?"

The pair looked at each other quickly and Nick quickly nodded, "That'd lovely, thanks Mrs Spring"
"Call me Jane, love" She smiled, "Dinner's at 6, do you like lasagne Nick?"
"Of course, who doesn't like lasagne?" Nick laughed which made Jane laugh too
"Good answer!"

It was only once the pair of them got up the stairs that Charlie said anything.

"So you're staying for dinner are you?" He smirked
"Seemed rude to decline" Nick shrugged and they both laughed.

Charlie led the way into his bedroom and they dumped their bags immediately.

"I love your room" Nick said, looking around it as if he hadn't seen it before
"Shut up!" Charlie laughed, "Give me your maths homework"
"You're not doing it for me!" Nick protested, unzipping his bag ,"I want you to teach me how to do it. You're not going to be able to do my exam for me, are you?"
Charlie just laughed and took Nick's book, opening up to the last page that was written on.

"Right, okay. So you're on algebra" Charlie thought aloud, "Okay, this is easy enough"
"It's not fair that you're in the year below and better than me at this"
"So" Charlie announced, completing ignoring Nick's comment and sitting on the floor, "How much do you understand already?" Charlie finally looked up at a very nervous looking Nick, "It's fine, you're gonna be fine. Look" Charlie patted the space next to him and Nick sat down.

For the next few minutes, Charlie gave Nick a crash course in algebra. For him, it all made sense, but Nick was really struggling with it.

"Just tries these ones I've written here" Charlie pointed his biro at the two easy equations he'd scribbled down for Nick to try, "I need to start on my English essay"

There was silence for a while and once charlie had managed to write his essay intro out, he looked over to Nick.

"How's it going?"
"I think I've got it" Nick was chewing the end of his pen in concentration, "Can you check it for me?" He pushed his book towards Charlie to have a look.

"Yes, that's it!" Charlie beamed, he didn't think he'd be good at teaching but his way of explaining seemed to have made sense to Nick, "Now try the next one"

There was more silence as the two of them worked on their own thing. Once Nick had finished solving the next equation, he started looking at the actual questions his teacher had asked him to work on.

He was finding them difficult though and sighed in frustration which made Charlie immediately look up.

"I'm never gonna be able to do this, the exams are literally months away!" Nick threw his pen down and drew his knees up to his face, leaning on Charlie's bed, "Actually, I need to call my mum. Tell her I won't be home for dinner" He suddenly announced and got up. Clearly restless.

Charlie continued to work on his essay as Nick paced around the room, talking to his mum.
"Okay, yeah. See you at 8"
"She's going to pick me up at 8" Nick said, chucking his phone on Charlie's bed.

"Do you want me to go through the questions with you?" Charlie asked, ignoring Nick's attempt at changing the subject.

Nick nodded slowly, as if admitting defeat and sat back down on the floor.

"Okay, so before you worry too much about the whole thing, find a way to split it up. So you do two easier halves rather than one difficult whole equation" Charlie started explaining everything and scribbling workings out all around the page.

"Now you try the next one" He handed Nick back the pen after he'd finished talking him through the first equation, "You'll get there"

Charlie had managed to get just under half of his English essay done and Nick got a couple of equations done by the time Charlie's mum called them down for dinner.

"Your dad's working late tonight, so it's just us and Tori" Jane said as the pair of them came into the kitchen, "When she decides to join us, that is"
Nick laughed, "I don't think I've met Tori"

"Now you have" Tori smiled, coming to the table, "I'm Tori, Charlie's amazing older sister"
Nick laughed, "Nice to meet you. I'm Nick, Charlie's amazing best friend" Mimicking Tori.
"Who said you were my best friend!" Charlie chimed in, laughing.

Jane watched as the three of them joked together as she began to dish up the lasagne in the middle of the table.

"This is amazing!" Nick beamed, eating his potion and side salad quickest
"Thank you, Nick. You can come round more often!" Jane smirked

Once dinner was finished, Charlie and Nick went back upstairs but not before Jane had convinced Nick that she didn't need any help clearing up.

"Sorry about that" Charlie said once they were alone in his room again
"About what?" Nick was genuinely puzzled
"Mum and Tori can be so weird sometimes" He smiled sheepishly
"They were lovely, as expected" Nick had a smug smirk on his face.

They carried on working on their school work for a little while before Nick broke the silence, "I've had enough of this now, can we do something else? I've only got an hour till my mum picks me up"

Charlie laughed at Nick's lack of concentration, "To be fair you have done a lot of algebra"
"Yeah, thanks for helping me with that" Nick said sincerely, closing his maths book and putting it back in his back, "I understand it a lot better than I did"
Charlie's heart felt warm, "I'm happy to lend my services again"
"Oh yeah, for what price?" Nick asked, smirking
"Hmm" Charlie thought dramatically, "A kiss?"
