Nick tells you about Charlie

You and Nick had been friends since you were 6 years old. Even after you both went to different schools and inevitably met new friends, you'd still see each other every other weekend or so. Nick was like a brother to you and he felt the same about you.

It was Saturday afternoon and you'd both decided to have a sleepover round Nick's house.

"It feels like we don't see each other anymore!" You moan, flopping down on his bed. Nellie followed you and started licking your face, "Yes, yes - I've missed you too Nellie!" You say in between laughs.

"Yeah, sorry about that. It's my fault" Nick sighed, "I've had so much on what with exams coming up and rugby practise" He reeled off, "I'm sorry for blowing you off a lot"

You sat up, pushing Nellie gently off you, "It's literally fine, I get it - we're not kids anymore"
"I know, but" Nick sat down on his bed next to you, "I've really missed you"
"Stop being so soppy!" You laugh, but give him a big hug all the same, "So how is the revision going?' You ask seriously
"Oh, yeah - as well as it can be I guess. I didn't think History would be as hard as it is"
"I know right! All the dates and the names and- augh!"
Nick laughed, "Exactly"
"I need your help actually" You suddenly remember you had a french essay to write
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, y'know I took French-"
"I can't take your exams for you!" Nick interrupted
"No! It's not that, I've got an essay to write- well I've started it, I just need you to make sure it actually makes sense and that I've used all the right tenses"
"Yeah, they can be a nightmare - well, for people that aren't fluent like me I guess" Nick said smugly and you laughed .
"Shut up!"

You threw the nearest pillow at Nick's face, but his reflexes were too quick and he pushed it back at you.

"Nick!" You push the pillow away, "Will you help me then?"
Nick rolled his eyes, "When you suggested having a sleepover, I thought we'd be doing fun things like playing Mario Kart and taking Nellie for a-" He suddenly stopped and looked at Nellie who had lifted her head in anticipation, "You know what" He laughed as Nellie put her head back down in disappointment.
"Well we can do that after you've read through my essay - you never know, my French might be perfect and you have nothing to correct"
"Augh" Nick moaned dramatically, "Fine, where is it?"
"Here" You happily get off the bed and find your French book in the bag you packed.
"I'm not promising anything because although I can technically write in French, it's only ever to text my dad"

Nick read through your essay while you petted Nellie. He scribbled a few things out and re-wrote a few sentences.

"Overall it's fine, it's just some of the sentences make sense in English, but in French it's different"
"Which only someone who spoke French would get" You rolled your eyes and Nick laughed
"No, they probably taught you it. It's just you're too dumb to understand it"
"Hey!" You threw the pillow at Nick again, but this time he was too busy reading your essay to defend himself.
"Alright, alright - I'm joking obviously! Here you go, you might have to re-write it so it's all your handwriting though and with no crossing out"
"Thank you, Nicholas - love you!" You took your essay from him to put it back in your bag
"You know I hate being called Nicholas" Nick moaned
"But it's your name, Nicholas" You smirk, "Right we can take you know who for a you know what now" You said, gesturing to Nellie who lifted her head. It's like she really understood what you guys were saying.

"Okay, come on Nellie" Nick got up from the bed and Nellie immediately followed, "Do you want to go for a-" Nick paused, Nellie was already wagging her tail, "Walk?"

Nellie jumped up at Nick in excitement.

"Yeah, let's go for a walk Nellie - come on!" Nick was practically dancing around his room with her and you had to just watch and laugh at them.
