You sliced through armor after armor, watching hundreds of bullets fired in both directions, but the waves of troopers kept coming and coming. You jumped and ducked behind a crate as a small grenade went off.
"They don't mess around," you whispered to Tech, who had also dove behind the crate.
"By my calculations, they have sent in several hundred troopers already," he responded, peeking out from behind the crate to fire a few rounds.
You nodded before jumping over top of the crate and running back into the fray. You winced as you looked at the bodies of civilians that littered the floor, they fought bravely, but it wasn't enough. You tried to push their pained screams out of your head as you took down trooper after trooper.
You glanced around, trying to help as many people as you could, but you were so outnumbered, it was like being pulled in a thousand directions. You ran towards Hunter, who was attempting to reach a small band of soldiers who were about to be pinned by some troopers.
Together you dispatched the troopers and helped the soldiers up off the ground, "come on, go back to the final wave of crates," you instructed, "start thinning them out as they split up." The soldiers nodded and ran back into the battle, finding small groups of troopers that were breaking off from the larger force.
From the main force, a few troopers took aim at you and Hunter. He twirled behind you and you raised your saber, deflecting the shots back where they came. "Thanks for the save," he whispered, placing a delicate kiss on your shoulder before running back into battle to fight alongside Wrecker.
You let out a breathy laugh as you rejoined the fight as well. The stormtroopers never stopped advancing, it was like they had endless rows of troopers. You glanced outside the shield and noticed that the walkers were getting closer and closer, only a few hundred yards from the shield now.
"Walkers inbound," you said into your com, "3 minutes tops."
There were still a good handful of soldiers in the main hangar, including the batch, but it was beginning to look like a blood bath, there were just too many stormtroopers. "We are going to be overrun," Echo voice came over the coms. You searched for him and saw that he was desperately trying to hold a throng of troopers back from one of the side doors.
"Fall back!" you shouted to everyone, "fall back!" You started to cover the shots as soldiers raced to the main door leading into the hallways. "Rex, lock down all doors but the main one," you said into your communicator between breaths.
You stepped back slowly, allowing time for your soldiers to retreat. "We're clear!" Hunter shouted to you from the doorway.
Just as you were about to turn and run for the doorway, you looked to the shield, walking proudly and confidently was Sergeant Major Krennick and Crosshair, but also with them was a new figure. He was tall and lanky, but radiated a measure of power.
The whole room grew cold. You took in a sharp breath as the figure locked eyes with you, and he smiled. A wicked and cruel knowing smile, like one you had never seen before. You instantly knew that this was the grand inquisitor, and he lived up to your fears.
"Come on!" Hunter shouted, bringing your focus back to the battlefield. You turned and ran for the door, blocking a few shots as they fired at you back.
As the door closed you looked to the inquisitor again, his menacing smile still present, "find them," he commanded the stormtroopers as they dispersed, "I want the child alive."
