Time still moved slowly as you stared on in horror, it felt like a piece of you was just ripped from the world.
Obi-Wan noticed your pain, felt it as you had. He rushed towards you and stood toe to toe with the grand inquisitor, locking blades and pushing him back. But you didn't even notice, your eyes were still locked on the figure in front of you.
You dropped to a knee as you pulled off the helmet, revealing the twisted painful face of Crosshair. He coughed as he looked down at the gaping hole in his stomach from where the Inquisitor's blade struck.
Your hands hovered over his wound before you locked eyes with him, "it's not that bad," you whispered, "you'll be okay."
He coughed again, "that is your lying voice," he strained.
You shook your head, forcing yourself to move closer to his head, trying to ignore the fatal wound, "why would you do that?"
Crosshair strained, his breaths becoming jagged. He lifted his hand up to you, you took it in both of yours. "I'm sorry," he whispered, "I realized too late that you were always my general."
You smiled at him, you could sense his time was not long, "I'm sorry too, Crosshair," you whispered, "I hope you can finally find peace."
"I already did," he said between jagged breaths, "I always did care for you."
You smiled at him as a tear rolled down your cheek. Crosshair tried to smile too, but it came off pained. Then all at once the breathing stopped, and his face now looked peaceful. You reached up to brush his eyelids closed and you placed a hand on his forehead, "find peace, my friend," you whispered.
A few seconds later, the batch, Rex and Omega were at your side, still kneeling over Crosshair. "He saved me," you whispered, still staring at his lifeless body, "he was on their side and he still saved me."
It was Rex you took an extra step and placed a hand on your shoulder, "he was one of us, he just had to figure it out."
You nodded before standing again, turning to the others, "then let's win this battle, for Crosshair."

You rejoined the fight, the clones at your heels. Even with your friends, the Empire still outnumbered you.
You saw Bo-Katan, fighting three troopers at once, unable to get the upper hand. You slid under the fire of several guns and popped up next to her, igniting your saber and quickly dispatching the stormtroopers surrounding her.
She nodded to you in thanks, before removing her helmet, "we're outnumbered her," she said, quickly catching her breath, "what's the play?"
You shook your head, "break through enough to get out of here," you responded, "or just defeat them all," you flashed with a smile.
Bo-Katan laughed, "I suppose there is that, but my people are not outskilled, they are outgunned," she explained, "the empire's resources are considerable."
You chuckled and grabbed the hilt of the darksaber from your belt, handing it to Bo-Katan, "this should even the playing field a bit."
She nodded and pulled her helmet on before igniting the saber, the unique sound filling the cave. She raised it in the air, her people seemed to be drawn to it. All the Mandalorians let out a battle cry, seemingly renewed in spirit as they followed their leader into a rushing charge towards the endless ranks of stormtroopers.

Across the cavern, you saw Bane and Fennec holding their own against a throng of troopers. They had just dispatched a battalion, when you arrived next to them.
"Enjoying the fun, little lady," Bane said sarcastically, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.
You shrugged, "you know me, always one for a fight."
Fennec interrupted, "I see Omega is here, I cannot believe you allowed her to fight."
You rolled your eyes, "she was supposed to be on board the ship that left, but it seems her stubborn streak has only gotten stronger."
You glanced over and saw Ahsoka tangling with Krennick, then you turned back to Bane and Fennec, "if you'll excuse me, I have a battle to win." You tipped your head to both of them with a smile, before running to Ahsoka's side as she had just sent Krennick tumbling back with a force push.
Ahsoka quickly pointed to Obi-Wan, still engaged in a fight with the Grand Inquisitor. "Even if Master Obi-Wan defeats the Inquisitor, we still cannot hope to eliminate a force of this size," she explained, "we have already lost so many." You followed her gaze in sadness at the rebel bodies that littered the floor, before you finally stopped at Crosshair's body, forever lifeless.
Ahsoka placed a hand on your arm, pulling you back to reality, "what is this fight really about?"
You found Omega in the crowd, before turning back to Ahsoka, "what it has always been about, Omega," you whispered.
Ahsoka nodded, "so get Omega out of here, you know that is the only way to truly win."
You nodded, you knew Ahsoka was right, there was one thing left to do and it was the one thing you didn't really want to do.
