thirty-four: my students are idiots

"GET IT TOGETHER, JACKASSES!"

everyone groans as muichiro smacks them repeatedly with a wooden sword. five slayers are told to land even on hit on him, but muichiro is simply too fast to bear.

"k-kanroji-sama!"

the three boys grunt with effort as they continue to balance on two-by-six wooden blocks. in each hand, they hold large weights and one foot is raised in the air, furthering the difficulty of balancing.

"but it has only been thirty minutes!" amata smiles. the slayers strain and amata runs over to muichiro, her feet not making a sound as she does so.

"h-how does she do that?!" the largest boy grunts. he nearly drops a weight, but he manages to regain his balance in a reasonable amount of time. the three boys stare in shock as they see amata going to the mist hashira.

"how is it going?" amata says, leaning into muichiro's ear as she stands on her toes. the boy seems overall undisturbed by her presence, as though he is used to intrusions like these.

"peachy." he grunts. a slayer goes to attack and muichiro dodges. the slayer screams as the realization that his wooden sword is about to hit amata, but she's gone in a flash.

the slayers gasp in shock before seeing her running on the fence, back to her own students. her carefree smile and flowy skirt mystify the slayer, and muichiro smirks.

"never get distracted!"

muichiro whacks all five slayers and they fall to their knees.

"rest easy!"

amata's students drop the weights and hop into the sand, breathing in relief. amata runs in front of them, wiggling her arms by her side in excitement.

"let's play a game of tag!" she announces.

the boys stare in confusion.

"i want you to use the techniques i have taught you, and learn to be light on your feet." amata says. "the goal here is to run as fast as you can whilst being entirely silent."

the boys stare at amata as she looks up at the largest boy, who must be over six feet tall.

"chase your friends! you're it! i will be making some treats."

amata runs off and the boys snickers as his friends stare at him in fear. he begins chasing after one as amata goes inside to begin making mochi.

"god, you whimps need a break already?!" muichiro barks. his pupils don't even reply.

"fine. next group of five, gear up." muichiro grunts as he begins walking back inside. five demon slayers tremble in fear as they watch him calmly go back in.

"hello!" amata waves as she begins rolling mochi dough. "i'm making strawberry mochi for you, but i think i'll do mango for everyone else! what do you think? or maybe i could do another flavor... ooh! i could give my hand at the kiwi one suma-san made!" amata rambles.

muichiro only stops at her and buries his head in her shoulder.

"huh?" amata asks in confusion.
