Rachel and I laid in bed, as we cuddled each other. We haven't said a word within 30 minutes, and the feeling of her laying next to me in silence was just peaceful. Just as I was about to close my eyes, Rachel breaks the silence.
"We should do something." She says, as she sits up and looks down at me.
"Like what?" I asked, looking up at her.
Rachel stayed silent, as she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of bed. She took me down stairs and out the back door to the backyard.
"It's such a nice day, why waste it inside." Rachel said with a smile, as she sat down on the ground, taking her shoes off and sticking them into the warm pool water. I then sat next to her and did the same, as I wrapped my arm around her.
"So, homecomings next weekend." Rachel smiled as she leaned into me. "My dress is a light pink, in case you would like to match." She added with a smile.
"Of course I would like to match with you." I smiled back at her.
Rachel then giggled. "But we do have a slight problem."
"What's the problem?" I asked.
Rachel looked at me in a serious tone, as she crossed her arms.
"You haven't asked me to be your date yet." She smirked.
Are you kidding me? All this time I've been learning how to dance just for her, and know she wants me to ask her? I automatically assumed since we were dating, she was automatically my date. Play it cool, Sam.
"You want me to ask you?" I asked, smirking back.
Rachel nodded. "That's exactly what I want you to do." She told, as she gently kisses my cheek.
"Alright." I said as I stood up.
As I stood up, I looked down at her, as I gave her my hand. Rachel smiled, as she accepted my hand, as helped her up.
"Rachel, my love. I've only known you for such a small time, but I have a very important question to ask you. Will you let me make one of your nights the best night of your life? Will you let me treat you like royalty and take you to Homecoming next weekend?" I asked, as I pressed my lips to the back on her hand.
Rachel giggled. "You're such a goofball, but I kindly accept your request into taking me to homecoming." She smiled.
"Thank you, now I shall wear pink on that nice to match your gorgeous self." I said acting so dramatic, which made her laugh.
"Have you ever took any drama classes? You would be perfect for our Spring musical." Rachel complimented, as she blushed.
"You really think so? I never took drama, because I have a huge fear of large crowds." I smirked.
"But what if I was with you?" She smiled sweetly, as she wrapped her arms around my neck, and moved forward, closing the space between us.
I shrugged, as I wrapped my arms around her waist. "That might be rearranged then." I smiled back.
In that moment, it felt like time has stopped, and we were the only two people in this world. We both looked into each others eyes, as we started to lean forward to kiss each other. As soon as we were an inch apart, time had started back up again, and I was forcefully pushed sideways. As I opened my eyes, Noah stood there with a goofy grin on his face, and Rachel had her hands over her month. As I came back to reality, I was swallowed in the liquids of my in-ground pool, as it took me underneath its embrace. Water entered throughout my body, as I panicked and swam to the top. Once I was above the water, I coughed and hacked up water, as I looked up at Noah, who was laughing and pointing.
"You idiot!" I coughed.
"You know you love me though." Noah said, as he patted my soggy, wet hair. "Anyway, I'm out here to get Rachel's blessings. I want to ask your best friend, Maria to Homecoming, what do you say?" He asked her, as he stood up.
Rachel looked at me, and then back at Noah.
"I don't see why not. She can get ready with me at my house that day, and the both of you can come pick us up here." Rachel responded with a smile.
Noah smiled as he hugged her. "Thank you so much! And yes, that sounds like a plan." Noah shouted with happiness as he quickly released the hug, and then looked over at me. "You need to still learn how to dance, Mr." Noah added as he ran off.
"HEY!" I shouted in irritation, and then sighed.
Rachel looked down at me with, as she giggled.
"Do you even know how to dance?" She smirked.
I stayed silent for a few, before giving her my answer.
"I'm learning, alright!" I told her, as I got out of the pool.
Rachel started to laugh again, as I stood on my two feet. My clothe stuck to me, as I shivered lightly. Looking over at her, I gave her an unsettling smile, as I opened my arms.
"All that laughing deserves a hug." I told her, as I started to walk towards her.
"Sam! Don't you dare!" She shouted in between laughter, as she started to run away.
For about 10 minutes, of chasing and laughing at each other, my mom came outside with a towel in her hands, letting us know that dinner was ready, and that I wasn't allowed inside until I wasn't dripping wet anymore. I told Rachel to go inside, as I tried myself off.
"You sure love her, don't you?" My mom asked with a smile.
I nodded. "I do. A lot, actually." I responded.
"What if she finds out your secret, Sam?" Mom asked, as she gave me a worried expression.
"I worry about that too..." I sighed, as I wrapped the towel around my shoulder blades. "I hope she doesn't leave me for it, if she finds out." I mumbled softly.
