The entire gym was packed, as teenagers jumped and danced around in the middle of the gym floor, others sat on the side, as they ate food and drank fruit punch, and a few just sat down at tables, as they chatted away. Loud music roared throughout the room, as flashy lights dancing around, making everyone's adrenaline rush out of their skins. The floor was sticky with punch and cookies, as my feet stuck like mud to the ground. I took in a breath, as my lungs ached and begged me to step outside.
"For a large gym, it fills up quickly," Noah stated, as we placed our stuff on an empty table.
"It's like this every year, and sometimes it gets even worse," Maria smirked, as she wrapped her arms around Noah.
I leaned up against the wall, as I watched everyone dance to upbeat music. Rachel wrapped her arms around me, as she smiled brightly at me. I couldn't help, but smile back.
"Come on, babe," Rachel said, as she took both of my hands in hers. "Let's dance, and have a fun time, what do you say?" She finished, as a smile appeared onto her lovely face.
I smiled back, as I took her right hand, and gently pressed my lips to it. "I say we should," I accepted her offer.
Rachel smiled bigger, as she started to drag me onto the dance floor, as Noah and Maria followed along. As soon as we were in the middle of everybody, Rachel began to dance to the upbeat songs, as I followed her lead and dances along.
After jumping around, and moving to the beat of the song, the song finally ended, as another upbeat song began to start.
"I'm tired of dancing to these types of songs. Let's get a drink and sit down for awhile," Rachel shouted over the music, as she took my hand and began to drag me out off the dance floor.
The both of us grabbed some punch and a cookie, as we sat back down at our table, as we drank our drinks quickly. I took a sigh of relief, as I began to relax into my seat.
"I'm glad I am able to spend homecoming night, with the person I love the most," Rachel said, as she laid her head on my shoulder.
"And I'm glad to be spending this night, with you too," I responded, as I wrapped my arm around her, gently.
We sat there, cuddling for awhile, until the upbeat music died, and a soft, slow song began to play.
Yes, this is what I was waiting for...
Rachel and I sat up at the same time, as we looked into each others eyes, with gentle smiles planned on our faces.
"Rachel," I called, as I slowly stood up. "Would you care to dance?" I asked, as I gave her my hand.
She giggled, as she placed her hand in mine.
"Of course, I'd love too," Rachel accepted, as I helped her stand on her feet.
We walked over toward the dance floor, as she stood in an empty spot. She placed her arms around my neck, as I wrapped mine around her waist. And before we knew it, we began to slow dance to the music, as our eyes locked on each others, and our mouths formed sweet smiles. We danced without saying a word, and that was alright.
After about 3 minutes of slow dancing, the song ended, as another upbeat song began to start up. Rachel and I stopped dancing, but continued to hold each other close.
"That... was beautiful," Rachel blushes. "You've danced amazingly," she added.
I chuckled. "I learned just for you, of course," I admitted, with a smile.
The both of us leaned forward, as our foreheads touched, and our eyes still locked on to each others.
"You did great. I am proud of you," Rachel giggled.
