January 3rd

"Come on, Sam!" Rachel cried, as she dragged me towards the schools auditorium. "We're going to be late for auditions!"

"I was hoping you would have forgotten about that." I mumbled, as the both of us stopped in front of a table that was littered with scripts for each character.

Rachel glanced up at me with her, beautiful emerald orbs, as a smile appeared across her face.

"Just give it a shot! If you don't make it, I won't be mad. You at least tried and that's the thought of it!" She spoke, sweetly, as she handed me one of the scripts.

I let out a small sigh, before placing my eyes upon the script. Within seconds, my eyes grew wide, as I returned my sight on Rachel.

"You want me to audition for one of the most popular, yet critical character?!" I nearly shouted.

Rachel held her hands out in front of her, as she tried her best to hold in her laughs. "Baby, please!" She giggled. "Imagine if we received the parts we audition for? Wouldn't that be cute?" Rachel asked, while batting her eyelids together.

I groaned, as I ran a hand through my hair. "Can't I audition as Mushu? I could make a great Mushu!" I stated, while letting out a small chuckle.

Rachel giggled, as she held onto my hand. "I tell you what... If you audition for this character, I'll buy you ice cream afterwards!" She suggested, as we stood in a line, full of others would were auditioning.

"One, who eats ice cream in January? Two, is ice cream even enough to audition Shang?" I asked.

"Your family eats ice cream everyday, so I'm guess you do too, and yes." Rachel responded, as she placed her hands upon my back, gently pushing me forward. "Your next! Go get them tiger!"

"Wait, what?" I questioned, as I turned my head towards the door, only to see the drama teacher, Mrs. Johnson, standing in front of me, with a smile across her face.

"Rachel's right!" Mrs. Johnson spoke, as she let out a small laugh. "You're next! Don't be nervous. I'm sure you'll do great!" She spoke, as she wrapped her arm around my shoulder, pulling me into the auditorium.

"Good luck!" Rachel shouted, before the door closed behind me.

I lightly trembled in place, as I stood on stage, while Mrs. Johnson, the choir teacher, Mr. Harrison and surprisingly, Mrs. Scott had their eyes planted on me in the first row.

"Uh," I coughed out. "I've never gotten this far in auditions before." I admitted, as my brain flashed on the memory of my 13 year old self, emptying her stomach acid in front of the judges. I shook my head.

"Don't worry, honey!" Mrs. Scott's voice echoed around the large room. "Be natural, be yourself and have fun! We'll tell you what to do!" She reassured, as she planted a smile upon her face.

I nodded, as I let the judges write whatever they're writing on their clipboards.

"I heard you were auditioning for Li Shang!" Mrs. Johnson called out, as I nodded once again. "I know how happy Rachel would be if you got this part. She's always the star of our musicals and plays. However, seeing you two, together, with the two main parts would be wonderful to see! So let's see what you got!"

A blush attacked my face, as I placed my eyes upon my shoes, while I listened to each person talk.

"We want you to read any passage you like in your packet. After that, we'll play a song from the movie. We want you to sing the lyrics to it, which are in your package, as well." Mr. Harrison asked. "Whenever you're ready."
