For a moment, I thought I was staring at someone else through the mirror, as my midnight blue eyes trailed across my reflection. They made their way up, as I eyed my sparkly silver and blue make up, that Bethany had done for me. They eventually move on their own, as they were placed upon the royal blue gown, that hugged my body, perfectly. I blinked a couple times, before I was looking up at my hair, as my mother gave it a tiny bit of body, with a curling iron. I slowly lifted my gown up, exposing the sparkly, silver wedges that were placed upon my feet.
Never have I ever, would I imagine myself looking this beautiful, and I'm sure everybody else could say the same thing. If you were to ask me what I was going to wear to prom, my freshmen year of High School, I would have stated 'a tuxedo, a nice vest and a bow tie, that matched the color of my dates dress. Years later, and I now can say 'a dress, because I want everybody to know the truth about me'.
"How do I look?" I breathed out, as I slowly turned to face Bethany, who sat on my bed.
She looked up from her phone, as a large smile was placed across her face. Bethany quickly stood up, as she dragged her feet across the floor. As soon as she approached me, she opened her mouth to respond.
"Beautiful." Bethany spoke, as she pressed the camera app on her phone. "Selfie appropriate, if I do say so myself." She added, as she wrapped her arm around my shoulder and lifted her phone up high.
I chuckled, as I leaned closer into her. I looked up at her camera, before giving her my signature closed mouth smile. Bethany flashed a big, bright smile, before capturing the photo. Her arm unhatched from my shoulder, as she began to view the photo she had just took.
"Perfect!" She mumbled, as her smile never left her face.
I nodded in agreement, as she placed her phone inside her black hand bag, before she turned and face me.
"How do I look?" Bethany asked, as she spun in circles a few times.
Bethany wore a Cinderella, emerald green prom dress, with a big, black bow in the back. Her death killing, black heels completed her dress, along with her curly updo, and make up that matched.
"If you were single, i'd ask you for your number." I joked, as I sent a wink her way.
Bethany scoffed, as she crossed her arms over her chest. "You could, at least, take me to dinner first."
"There will be dinner at prom, I can assure you." I reminded her.
"That's not good enough! I want more!" Bethany mocked.
The both of us glared at one other for a split second, before the corners of my lips began to quiver, as a smile broke its way through, following by hysterical laughter. Bethany laughed with me, as the two of us leaned forward, trying to hold onto each other, so neither of us would fall to the floor. After a minute, we were able to gather ourselves, as our laughter slowly ceased.
"Are you ready?" Bethany asked, as she gave me a serious expression.
My heart began to pound, ever so slightly, up against my rib cage, as I let out a shaky breath. "Yeah, lets go." I nodded.
I walked over to one side of the room, as I reached for my tuxedo jacket. I slipped my right arm through, as my navy blue, painted finger tips poked their way out of the sleeve. I did the same with the other, as i fixed the collar of the jacket. Then, I reached down, as I began to pat the pockets of the jacket, to make sure my phone, wallet, keys and ticket were inside. Before heading towards the door, I grabbed a bag, that consisted of comfortable clothing, since Hayden wanted to have a bomb fire at his place, afterwards. Bethany followed me, as I opened up the bedroom door, and made my way towards the edge of the stairs, that lead down into the living room.
