"Look who finally showed up!" Hayden groaned, as Rachel and I walked down the basement stairs, to meet our impatient friends. "What took you two so long?" He asked.
Rachel and I quickly faced each other, as a faint blush appeared on our faces. My eyes trailed to my shoes, as I bit my lip nervously.
"We were just talking." I announced, as I shook the nervous expression away.
Rachel nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Talking." She giggled, before walking further into the basement.
Hayden raised an eyebrow, as he shot a smirk at me, knowing exactly what was up. I simply ignored his cocky smirk, as I followed behind Rachel.
The basement was spacious, as blankets floated with blue, carpeted flooring. Six sleeping bags laid on top of them, in a neat circle, as pillows scattered the large, cushioned area. A table was placed against the wall, as snacks scattered on top of it. Underneath the table, laid two medium sized coolers, full of water, juice and soda. On the other wall, a flat screen television sat perfectly on top of the table, as Noah's and mine Xbox was hooked up to it, along with a DVD player. Video games and DVDs were placed neatly inside the CD stand, ready to go through and scatter about. Last but not least, in the back corner, laid some board games, that were brought from Hayden, Bethany, Brianna and Rachel.
"We can't start this party if you guys aren't in your pajamas yet!" Brianna shouted, as she sat on top of her hot pink sleeping bag.
"Right?" Bethany agreed, as she munched on potato chips. "Get with the program, guys!"
Rachel and I eyed our outfits, before turning our attention onto each other. Rachel began to giggle, as she shook her head.
"Alright, fine." Rachel spoke, as she approached her bag, and pulled out her night clothes. "Give me a minute." She called, before disappearing inside the basement bathroom.
"Come on, Sam!" Bethany called, as she walked over toward me, while throwing her arm around my shoulder. "Run along upstairs and change! You'll be the last one ready for your party!" She pointed out, as she unwrapped her arm that was around my should, and began to shove me towards the stairs.
I let out a groan, as I gave in. "Alright, alright. I'll be right back." I told, before rushing up the stairs.
I made my way through the house, as I entered into my bedroom. Quickly throwing off my day clothes, I opened my dresser drawer, as I pulled out a black t shirt, and red, flannel pajama pants. I slipped into the article of clothing, before running back down towards the basement. When I made it, everyone sat on their sleeping backs, eating snacks and chatting away. I joined them, as I sat on top of mine.
"Took you long enough." Hayden spoke, as he took a drink from his soda.
I responded with a shrug, before shoving my hand in the bag of pretzels. "What should we do?" I asked, pulling a few pretzels out and tossing one by one into my mouth.
Noah, Hayden, Brianna and Bethany smirked at each other, before returning their gaze onto me.
"Ouija board." Bethany responded, as her smirk never left her face.
Rachel gasped, as she threw her hands forward in defense. "No way!" She shouted. "I don't trust them! Not one bit."
"Oh come on!" Hayden cooed. "Are you scared of some little ghost?" He baby talked, as he let out a low chuckle.
"NO!" Rachel shouted, angrily. "I just don't trust them, is all." She added, as she grabbed her pillow, pressing up against her chest.
I glanced over to my right, where Rachel sat there hugging her pillow tightly. She sat there silently, as obvious fear spread across her face, yet a hint of curiosity was shown at the same time. Rachel is someone who hides their fear from everyone, unlike me. When she's scared, she'll try to cover it up, making her seem touch, oh so she thinks. In all honesty, I have never seen her afraid before; not once.
