Beginners Luck

Intro

My name is Kaelyn Kade Ray I am in my 2nd year of online collage out of The university of San Antonio where I do online classes which is only just in case my rodeo career doesn't take off. I live in a little country town by the name of Odem Texas with four of my best friends. Tyler Daniels (Ty), Jaclyn Reynolds, Kylie Cooper and Justin McDaniel.. Total there are 5 of us, three girls and two boys well men I guess I should say. We all love to rope and ride. We rent a decent size house on 15 acres of land where we keep our horses with us. The boys are now leaning more towards bull riding so who knows what is in store for their future... For me and the girls we barrel race.. Sadly we do not have our own arena set up at our place, So all of us go over to a good friend of ours place named Trey Young he's got over 2,000 acres with multiple stalls and arenas set up. We go over there multiple days out of the week. Actually were fixing to head over there right now as I speak, the boys are loading the trailers right now..

"Ready to load up?" I hear Tyler call out

"be right there!" I holler

grabbing my hat and a different shirt to slip over this one for when Im finished with practice. I run out to the truck that everybody's already loaded into i open the passenger side door to slip in but Justin is in my spot.

"Move it!"

"climb over me I called shotgun!" He said teasing me.

I climbed i over his lap and sat down and looked at him with the evil eye

"Is Trey gonna be home?" Kylie calls out from the back seat. I smirk knowing that she has a huge crush on him

"someone has a slight crush" Jaclyn calls out.

I look over at Kylie and I bust out laughing her face is bright red.

"Yes he's going to be home" Tyler calls out grinning looking back at her in the rear view mirror! I just shake my head as we pull out onto the highway..

We pulled into Treys place Tyler jumped out and put in the code to enter the gate.. "I see your guy!" I said referring to what was said earlier about Kylie having a crush on Trey. "Shush it don't make me blush before we see him!" Kylie says hitting my seat as Trey comes walking up to the truck.. I smirk knowing Kylie is hiding her face. "Hey yall!" Trey says as he leans in the window of the driver side door.

"Wanna do some ridin?" Justin calls out

"I've got to finish a few things but when I get done you bet your ass im in!" He said and hit the truck "I'll see yall later!" He said before he tipped his hat and said "goodbye ladies" to all of us girls in the truck.

I smiled as Tyler pulled the truck towards the barn. "Alright ladies have fun" Justin says before he gets out of the truck closing the door behind him..

"Umm hello im getting out too!" I holler as I open the door again.

"Sorry" he says running off the the Bulls.

I swear that boy is somthin else. I think to Myself as I start to unload my horse. I own a 6 year old Gelding horse his name is Weston, I bought him from a good friend of mine from high school, she worked with him some but throughout the years me and him have bonded and his progress has picked up big time we've come a long way! were a great team if I say so myself. "c'mon boy" I said grabbing the lead rope, I walk him over to the arena and tie him to the fence so me and the girls can get the barrels set up..

The gates open i go flying out the first barrel complete, my hairs blowing against the wind second barrel complete "c'mon boy" i hustle turning third and final barrel before exiting the arena. "Time!" Jaclyn yells "17.9" She yells again. Not to bad I think to myself but I gotta get faster. I didn't make the first Barrel like I wanted. Kylie is up next so I sit on the fence post and watch her she runs a 18.00 "push a little harder! you can do it" I tell her as she rides by me exiting the arena, Jaclyn goes next she runs at 16.9 "Woohoo!" I say as I get ready to ride again. I lean down an pet Weston's neck "you can do this baby" I whisper in his ear. My second run didn't go as well as my first, heading out i hit the third barrel cause myself a five second penalty. I run a 21.8 "C'mon Kae you can do this concentrate!" Jaclyn calls out after me. Kylie runs a 18 even Jaclyn ran an 17.7. My third round.. I take a deep breath and put my all into it. The gates fly open and I take off
