Beginners Luck

Silver Wings..

"That story about you getting hurt had nothing to do with Kyle texting me and knowing where I live.. What were you really thinking about?"

He was giving me a cute little ornery grin. I'll admit it made me smile for a minute but I wanted to know why he told me that story.

"Well after I got him away from you, you were all worked up over him. He was on your mind and I could tell you were having mixed emotions towards him."

He stopped talking and just looked at me. I didn't understand what that had to do with why he told me about him getting hurt. I gave him a confused look.

"Okay so maybe that's all true but why the story?" He grinned before he started to talk.

"Because Kyle was on your mind. I know you were thinking about how sorry you felt for him but then yet again how much you hated him. Mixed emotions towards him. Then I heard you tell your friend that tonight's about celebration of how well yall did today at the rodeo but you couldn't get your mind off of him. So I had to get your mind off of him some how.. So I distracted you with a story of how I got hurt, it got your mind off of him didn't it?"

I was speechless... I just looked at him not knowing what to say.. He was right. Kyle had been on my mind all night. I was feeling sorry for him. But then yet again I hated him.. But my question know what how did he know all those things.. Everybody usually tells me I'm hard to read, they can never tell what I'm thinking. I looked up at him his eyes meeting mine.

"You're right" I whispered softly still Amazed by how he did that..

"I know" He responded still looking at me.

That's when I heard the beginning of a slow song start to come on. Not just any slowly song.. Silver Wings started playing through the speakers. Drew stood up and held his hand out.

"May I have this dance?"

He asked and I started to blush a little. I couldn't say no to him so I stood up and he took my hand in his..

We danced not missing a beat. Drew was an amazing dancer he was gentle unlike most guys I've danced with. Drew's feet moved perfectly to the beat of the music..

I laid my head on his shoulder as the song went on. His hands were rough like a working mans hands should be. His body pressed firmly against mine you could easily tell he was a ranch man.

I looked up at him as our feet kicked up dust as we moved along the parking lot. I couldn't help but smile as I looked into his brown eyes. A lot of things may of went wrong earlier but right now this moment is perfect.. he twirled me around as the song came to a close finish..

The song came to a end As he twirled me around once more. I looked up at him smiling not really knowing what else to do. He looked into my eyes making my butterflies go crazy he smiled as he started leaning down to kiss me.. I met him halfway there.. our lips connecting. It lasted for a few short seconds before he pulled away. His face was flushed red as he looked down at me afterward I smiled as he let go of me letting him know that it was okay..
