Beginners Luck

A Year Later

I moved in with Drew a long time ago and everything is going great, we both couldn't be happier. We've saved enough money to start building the new house down by the river. The contractor to build the house started last week with everything.. they cleared the land and start pouring the concrete today and of coarse Drew just can't stay away he's excited for everything to be finished.

Waylon and Sadie were running around plaything with their new toys we had got them the other day and Justin was out working with the horses and I was getting ready for my parents and Mema and sister to visit they're on their way they should be here tonight by supper time. We have the guest house set up for whoever wants it and then the two more bedrooms for my sister and Mema or however the decide to work it all out.

I can't believe my baby sister is 18 already it makes me start to feel old.. we're having her surprise birthday party here with some of Drews rodeo friends and all of us. It should be really fun.

"Baby?" Drews voice rang threw the front door

"In here" I hollered from the back bedroom

I heard his boots clanking down the hall and then he appeared in the door way.

"What's wrong?" I questioned

He walked in and sat down on the bed pulling me down next to him.

"There's a rodeo"

"No way!" I hollered and stood up

"Listen baby They need people to help out"

"Drew we both know you'd go and get of a damn bull!"

"It's for a little boy with cancer Kaelyn they're raising money for him" he spoke gently

"And so what Drew? You heard what the doctors said!"

"Kaelyn I'd be fine!"

"There's always that chance Drew!" I hollered and stormed out of the room.

I can't believe him wanting to take off to a rodeo when he knows damn good and well that he could die in a second.. another blow to his head he's gone.. How could he even want to think about riding again..

"Kaelyn wait" he hollered after me.

I slammed our bedroom door and curled up in bed. I can't even begin thinking about him leaving for a rodeo, sure I know it's his passion and he loves it but dammit don't he know he can die..

"Kaelyn" he opened the door and walked In

"What Drew"

"Baby it's for a good cause"

"I don't care Drew! It could risk your life you ain't going! We can donate money instead!"

"But baby that's not the same"

"Drew what's more important your life or the rodeo? To me it's your life! I would go crazy without you"

"Nothing's gonna happen to me!"

"When is this stupid rodeo?"

"Saturday and Sunday"

I sighed..

I don't see what the big deal is, nothing is going to happen to me. I haven't road in such a long time and it's killing me inside.. I need to get out there and ride.
