We sat there in our trucks for a while.. I got myself together and I knew she was opening her gifts.. I watched her in the rearview and her hand covered her mouth tears streaming down her face.. I clinched my jaw and she opened her door and I opened mine.

Meeting me halfway between her truck and mine she wrapped her arms around me clinging to my chest.

"Kyle why" she sobbed

I held her confused "why what darlin" I questioned holding her tight.

"Why did you have to go and become a jerk Kyle why!" She hollered backing away from me.

I was shocked.. I gulped clinching my jaw once again with a confused look on my face.

She got herself together and then looked up at me.

"I'm sorry Kyle" she whispered

"No Kaelyn I'm sorry" I said looking down at the ground staring into space.

"It's just everything hit me today.. And then those necklaces Kyle you didn't have to do that.."

"I know I didn't but I wanted too" I said looking down at her

She sighed

"Listen Kaelyn if you think I'm upset because you moved on I'm not." "you deserve to be happy you deserve the best in life and I'm sorry I didn't notice that back then we were so young.." I spoke softly "i got you those things to remind you that you'll always have little Kyle Jr with you." "I didn't mean to cause you sorrow I just wanted to give you something nice and.." I stopped.

"Kyle thank you it's sweet of you it really is.." "And Drew he's a really nice guy but we're not officially dating it's not like that, he knows I'm not ready for that yet"

I had to hide a smile when she said that

The necklaces are beautiful I love them but I just don't understand why.. Why would he do this now of all times..

"He knows I'm not ready for that yet and he respects that and what's in the past is the past.." I rambled on "I'm glad we're on good terms now but just because we are on good terms now doesn't mean you can start coming around again, were old new Kyle" I stated

He nodded his head.

We said our goodbyes and I hugged him tightly again. Today made me utterly confused about everything. Drew, Kyle, my past, my future, everything..

I climbed up in my truck as he did in his and I followed him out of the cemetery blowing my baby boy a kiss goodbye. Kyle waited for the traffic to go by before punching the gas in his truck causing black smoke to go everywhere then he honked and waved goodbye. I couldn't help but laugh. I pulled out and followed him into town, I was beside him on the highway and he looked over and smiled.

He went on down the highway back to his family ranch and I turned into the local gas station. I filled my truck up and got Waylon situated with water and food. Then we headed off towards Drews house.

2 1/2 hours later

I was on the other side of San Antone headed towards a little town I don't remember the name of.. I called Drew but he didn't answer, I kept driving and hoped my gps wouldn't let me down..

A bout ten minutes later my phone rang and his picture popped up I smiled.

"Hey"

"I'm sorry darlin my phone was in the tack room I was feeding, where are you?" He questioned
