Abisola couldn't believe that standing in front of her was Femi. She kept staring at him like she didn't recognize him; like he was an alien that had come to destroy her. She stood still until he took hold of her right hand. He led her to the living room, and told her to sit down.
Abisola obeyed without protesting for the simple fact that, she didn't know what his intentions were. And so she was careful not to provoke him.
Soon, the front door opened and Femi's two accomplices came in. One of them carried a bag, which he gave to Femi. Abisola saw it and swallowed hard as she recognized the bag. It was the same bag with the money in it, that she had personally given to the doctor. She wondered how Femi had come into possession of it, as he held it up for a few seconds, before putting it down. He turned his attention to his two accomplices and said,
"Guys, I want to have a word with her, wait for me in the car." The two accomplices obeyed and went outside. Finally, alone with Abisola, Femi folded his arms, stared at her and shook his head.
"Abisola, so na you get mind do me this?" He opened the bag and showed her the money. "For two hundred and fifty thousand Naira you had the guts to abandon me in the hospital to die, abi?" Abisola saw the money and wondered how he knew that she had given that much money to the doctor.
It made her think that something bad might have happened to the doctor. She felt a sudden cold ravage her body at the thought of it, and opened her mouth for the first time to speak.
"Femi, what did you do to the doctor?" She said, slowly, as she looked at him.
"Oh, so you are defending him? That criminal, who calls himself a doctor?""Femi, what happened to him?"
He moved closer to her and shook his head as he gave her a slap, and then a second one. Abisola endured the first slap, but when the second one landed much harder, she couldn't endure it anymore. She screamed her loudest while, at the same time, gripped his shirt.
" Yeeee, Femi! Today, you go kill me, o! You go kill me, o!" Femi tried to remove her hands, but her grip was strong, while she kept shouting. "I am fed up! I am fed up with you! Get out of my life! Go! Find another woman you can use and abuse, o, Femi!" Femi kicked her hard, making her fall. But she kept shouting her loudest, attracting the attention of Femi's two accomplices. Immediately, they came rushing in to stop him just as he was about to kick her again.
Femi, no!" They both shouted, as they rushed to stop him. Both men took hold of his hands and pulled him away from her.
"Aha, Femi, you said you only wanted to talk to her. What is this you are doing to her?" Said, the first accomplice.
" Guy no be so you tok am. Abeg, no kill another man pikin, o." Said, the second accomplice. Abisola got up and dusted herself with tears in her eyes. She went to sit down and started crying.
"Why, now? Why all this nonsense?" She said, sniffing. " I don't deserve to be treated like this. Ever since we've been together, this is how you have been treating. Why, now? Am I your slave?" Femi walked up to her and stared annoyingly at her.
"So you, Abisola, had the guts to leave me in the hospital? And all because of what? That useless friend you call Agnes?"
" Femi do not drag Agnes into this, because..."
" Oh because the whole plan to leave me in the hospital was her own idea?" Abisola looked away, giving Femi the impression that she was guilty. " So you can't talk, abi? Dem don seal your mouth for you, no be so?" He nodded."And you, have you been able to talk?" She said.
"Must I be accountable to you, Abisola?" He roared, making Abisola almost jump up. "Are you blind that you don't know what she did to me?"
