"Abisola!" Over the phone Mr. Adeleke was shouting out her name, angry that he was still being forced to give updates on the Sambo story. It was a Friday morning and he was hoping to leave the office for an early weekend.
He had everything planned out and was in his best mood before the man appeared in his office. He was quite perplexed after seeing the man because it had taken a while since they had last met. From then on his good mood changed into one of constant annoyance even after the man had left.
The anger he bore when he called Abisola was quite intense. It was no fault of hers that the man had kept insisting on an update of the story. But he kept relying on her to get him the updates that he needed. Her responsibility was to get Jamaica to tell her the source, or sources of the Sambo stories.
"Come to my office, right away!" He shouted. Abisola was startled by him barking over the phone.
"Aha, but why is oga, shouting?" She asked, Ojo.
"Abisola you know when oga shouts like that it means you are in big trouble." Ojo grinned feeling a sense of satisfaction at the way Mr. Adeleke was shouting at Abisola. He was sure that their boss was extremely disappointed in her, after the way he had elevated her."Go and see what he wants, now. After all, you are his untouchable princess." Abisola eyed Ojo in an unpleasant manner while she got up.
"I blame you?" She said, as she headed out of the newsroom. The minute she left her countenance changed. She didn't know why she was being summoned by Mr. Adeleke. However, she was hoping that he wasn't going to give her some bad news. When she entered his office and sat down, Mr. Adeleke stared at her with seriousness.
"Sir, you wanted to see me." She said after she had sat down. Mr. Adeleke cleared his throat as if he was preparing to give a long speech. But he had only called her to tell her to find the source of the Sambo stories.
"It seems you only like creating problems for this company, Abisola."
"Aha but, sir. What have I done?" She asked quite perplexed.
"I was expecting you to come to my office with updates. So where are they, now?" Abisola rolled her eyes as she knew what he was talking about.
"But, sir I thought that issue was over. I mean..."
"For you it is over. But for others it is not! Do you know what that means?" Abisola shook her head. "It means you have to contact your friend and..."
"But, sir. How do I do that when I don't even know her whereabouts?" Mr. Adeleke shook his head and got up.He then walked up to the door and grabbed the door handle and opened the door.
"Get out of my office!" He shouted. Abisola got up and walked up to the door. "Today is Friday. You have the whole weekend to find your friend." Abisola stood and listened to Mr. Adeleke as he kept talking. Anger was building up inside her increasing more and more as he continued talking. When he stopped, Abisola cleared her throat and said,
"I've heard you, sir."
"Good." He said, "then come back Monday morning with something I can use. Otherwise, consider yourself an ex employee of NMC news."Abisola gave him an angry stare and left feeling extremely frustrated that he was threatening to sack her. As she entered the newsroom Ojo saw the look on her face.
"Abisola, did boss beat you?" He said as he observed her.
"And how is that your problem?" She barked as she stared at him, angrily. "You think you and Agnes can destroy my life?" Abisola stood in front of him and looked sharply into his eyes and shook her head "No! The two of you are just wasting your time.""Abisola are you alright?"
"So to you I'm mad, abi?"
"Ah noooo! You no say na you be oga him queen. The untouchable queen." Ojo tried to laugh but only saw Abisola more focused and so angry that he thought for once that she could raise her hand up to slap him. "Okay, look Abisola? Sometimes these things come with the job. I mean, boss getting angry and shouting? It's just part of the work culture. I have no part in why he shouted at you."
