When Bisi received Alex's phone call she was unprepared for what he wanted her to do. Alex was bothered but not too much, when Inspector Dike mentioned his name in connection with Sarah and Tony. Years of working under his former military employer had solidified his nerves to see certain problems as threats.
Alex viewed Inspector Dike as a threat that was about to tear his reputation apart. He couldn't allow that to happen. Since Tony and Sarah were out of action, Alex had to rely heavily on Bisi. But she was too hesitant to work.
"Aha, sir, I have just come back from Port Harcourt." She argued.
"This is urgent, so you need to go back." Bisi felt the pressure Alex was putting on her but kept insisting on not traveling."Sir, I cannot go back right now." She kept on arguing. Alex became furious at Bisi's refusal to comply. Tony was still alive and this meant that she had to go back and finish her mission.
"Bisi, you still have unfinished business." Bisi rolled her eyes as Alex kept on insisting. "Tony survived the gunshots and is in some hospital right now."
"No! That is impossible! He couldn't have..."
"Bisi, there's an ongoing investigation, as we speak. I received a call from the Police Inspector handling the case.""i took the shot at close range. He couldn't have survived it."
"Well that is not what the Inspector told me." Bisi felt helpless and dejected. She began to see the intensity of the job Jamaica was doing. It was extreme and demanding. She found herself not cut out for all this. Now she realized that she preferred her former roll of working behind the scene with Frank and the rest of the team.
"Okay I will go but after that..." She paused. Alex knew what she wanted to say and felt betrayed.
"You want to quit?" He asked. Bisi knew the consequences for quitting quite well. It meant that she would have to watch her back for as long as she lived. In that instant, she remembered Jamaica's phone calls which she had refused to pick.
Thinking back at that moment, she realized that perhaps Jamaica had wanted to warn her about Alex. But Bisi was too carried away by her need to show that she could outshine Jamaica.
"Forget it. Just tell me when to leave. But not today." She said.
"Bisi in our line of business you follow orders. You do not decide when you want to do things."
"Sir, I do not work alone. If I act in a certain way it will raise suspicion." Alex understood her point about raising suspicion. However he didn't like her attitude of reluctance.
He felt future operations could be compromised so easily if he relied on her. This led him to think of Tony. He believed that Tony was still useful to him. This conviction made him regret sending Bisi to take Tony out. He had to recover Tony and get him back on the field.
"Anyway, expect my call soon." He cut the call before Bisi could even respond. He was done with her and focused his attention on getting Tony back.
Three days had passed since Tony was shot and rushed to the hospital. He was immediately placed under surgery to pull out the bullets Bisi had pumped into him. He was finally out of danger but for one week was kept under observation.
Inspector Dike wanted to interrogate him and went to the hospital where the ambulance service had taken Tony. He went with two other Police officers to see the doctor who had attended to Tony.
"Inspector Dike welcome. I'm Dr. Braide. Please come in." Inspector Dike went in and told the two officers to wait outside.
"Thank you Dr. Braide. I guess you know why I am here, right?"
