The Country Club Lounge had nothing to do with being a Country club. It was an exclusive pub serving high profile individuals. Here, in the early hours of a Thursday morning there was an unusual gathering of four men. The four men didn't come for the sole purpose of having an early morning breakfast. They were about to hold a meeting to discuss events that had rocked their world in the past few days.
Bodyguards were placed around the pub, looking like insignificant men, and unnoticed, by those who didn't know they were there. Their purpose was none other than to protect the four men that had settled down comfortably in a corner of the pub. The meeting was necessary due to the news report of the assassination of Alfred Bayo.
Alex had already informed his employer about the Alfred assassination. This made his employer request that a meeting be held to find out from Alex, more about the decision to go ahead with the killing.
"Alex?" Alex's employer gave him a concerned stare while the other two men, who were his close friends looked at him. "I had to call this urgent meeting as it was necessary to understand exactly what happened. Orders were not given to take out Alfred again. You were supposed to wait. So what really happened?"
Alex felt his heart beat faster than normal at the request from his employer to detail the events that led to the killing of Alfred. He observed the three men sitting down with him carefully and knew that, whatever he said could be used against Tony.
He was at a loss.
Tony's life was at stake here. But he was hoping a decision to take him out, would be the last thing they would ever think of. He drank some water and cleared his throat. But in that moment, a man, presumably a bartender, walked up to the four men and asked them if they wanted to have something to drink.
"Excuse me sirs, and sorry to interrupt you, may I ask if you would like something to drink?" he asked in a very polite manner. All four men stared at the individual who tried to put on a friendly smile, while waiting for their orders. One look at the man gave Alex's employer the impression that the man was an intruder. On top of that he was convinced that the man lacked respect and discipline. Without wasting time, he quickly addressed the man with annoyance.
"Did you come here to insult us, or what?" The man blinked, totally shocked that he was being addressed like that.
"Sorry, sir, I..er thought I should..." he was stuttering and seemed short of words. Alex's employer quickly interrupted him by looking at each man sitting down.
"Gentlemen," he started, "I know it's a little too early to drink, but do you care to take anything?" The men glanced rapidly at one another as if they were trying to seek each other's approval. Seeing their silence and indecision, Alex's employer turned and faced the presumed waiter."Give us each a shot of whisky." The man nodded and left. As he left he took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hello, Frank what's the situation like?"
"Guys, tell Bisi to get ready." He said in a low voice. He ended the call in time to see Bisi come in dressed as a waitress holding a tray with the order requested. Bisi walked up to the four men and placed the tray down. As she put the tray down all four men stared at her, making her feel uncomfortable.
Their stares were a little troubling to her such that she took a quick look at herself before she left. However, while bringing the drinks, she had carefully placed underneath the tray a listening device the size of button. As she left, she quickly engaged Frank's attention.
"All set." She told him. Frank switched on his receiver and listened in on the conversation the four men were having. When Bisi left Alex started the four how the operation went.
