Under the Moon (Dancing Under the Moonlight)
The tint of orange seemed to elegantly splash around the people surrounding the bonfire. With the evening sky providing the scenery of stars above and the animated chatters from the agents mostly filling the beach, the crackle of the fire was practically drowned out completely.
It was one of those days the agents of VALORANT were rewarded a break from their consecutive operations. Things were calmer, less hectic. A perfect time for the active members of the Protocol to have their well-deserved rest and relaxation.
With Phoenix and Jett mostly doing all the planning, they came to a decision in throwing a little bonfire gathering at the beach in the private island their headquarters was built upon. They had to make use of the venue somehow. The terrains and sights it offered weren't just for show alone, after all. This, of course, gave them all a chance to use their nearly forgotten swimwears in their closets.
Despite the little event starting around early afternoon, which was a time that was mostly filled with supposedly casual turned competitive volleyball games, the people still seemed to have more than enough energy to relax around the fire they built.
Even though she's the second-in-command, Sage always made an effort to bond with the other agents whenever she could manage. It's probably why her late attendance to the gathering wasn't too surprising.
Neon was playing the guitar while Jett and Raze were having a little duet by the time the healer finally left the main center and joined them down at the beach.
Sage stayed mostly at the sidelines when she joined them at the semi-circle they formed around the bonfire. She idled in the fair space between Fade and, surprisingly, Viper. The fact that they managed to convince the workaholic scientist to be there was a feat itself. But, knowing a certain techie, Sage didn't need to be made aware of all the details as to why Viper was there with a glass of something Breach mostly likely mixed and made.
Sage surveyed her surroundings, offering a small smile and a nod of encouragement when she made eye contact with Phoenix, who was asking her and the others if they wanted to hear him sing a song.
There was a question fleeting in her mind. When she finished her little scan, a particular detail stood out immediately, but she didn't want to make it too obvious on what she picked up on. Unfortunately, both Viper and Fade were too perceptive for Sage to pass off her actions as casual.
"If you're looking for her," Fade nodded over to one of the boulders, mainly the biggest one found at the beach, before continuing with, "she's right over there."
"You'd think she'd be more festive." Viper murmured, sipping from her drink. "But then again, she's likely waiting for you."
"Well?" Fade smirked and bumped her shoulder against Sage. "Why don't you go on ahead? You heard the snake. She's waiting."
While Fade maintained the mischievous look she wore and Viper half-heartedly rolled her eyes at the formerʼs little quip, Sage could only offer a polite and relatively sheepish smile before bowing her head and excusing herself. She certainly didn't need to stay right there where the Turkish agent would likely further tease her. Not to mention if the others also picked up on her presence and to who she's been seeking for once she arrived.
On her way to the aforementioned boulder, Sage felt a bit self-conscious as she walked and adjusted the white sheer chiffon she wore over the swimsuit she picked out from her past shopping with Jett and Neon. Initially, the two jokingly recommended the swimsuit to her just for the sake of teasing the possibilities of Reynaʼs reaction at the sight of it.
