Recombinant 006
Pairings: Viper x Killjoy / Reyna x Sage / Fade x Neon

Seven o'clock in the morning already, yet Killjoy was still in bed. Sitting down on the sheets with her back resting against the headboard, despite her state being completely relaxed and carefree, a single alarm or call could easily put an end to it and require her to go either out on the field or to continue whatever work she would be obligated to tend to for today.

But, while there was still no duty that called, she would stay where she was and continue on being the human pillow of the slumbering scientist.

After the little confrontation between Sage and Viper, it didn't take much for Brimstone to be convinced to let the chemist get the rest she most definitely deserved as of late. Now, Viper was doing something she was not used to doing ever since she began to work.

Staying past her usual time and spending these few hours asleep with Killjoy and her son.

Killjoy served as her warm pillow, while their son was snuggled in her arms and settled comfortably under the blanket with them. Killjoy nuzzled her cheek against Viper's hair, placing a kiss on her temple before she rested her head against the ravenette and closed her eyes to relish in the tender moment.

The whole thing itself reminded her of the time when her parents had those rare day-offs from their work. Her mother and father would stay in and practically be in this exact same position, and in those past cases, Killjoy would be the one who'd clung to her mother underneath the blanket, asleep yet satisfied that her family found the time for her, regardless of their busy schedules.

History tended to repeat itself, and as much as Killjoy wanted to recreate every nice memory she had of her parents with her girlfriend and their son, the last thing she wanted was for Luthor to stand alone and stare at the corpses of his parents. Killjoy could never bring herself to put Luthor in that position.

When she dug through the burning and wrecked facility of the Kingdom until she found her parents, whose faces were beyond recognizable by the rubble and flames that crushed their bones and seared their skins. She wouldn't be able to forget it at all, even when Brimstone wrapped her in his arms and held her as she seemed to endlessly weep for the loss of her family.

"Always so tense."

Killjoy opened her eyes and looked down as Viper shifted in her arms. She loosened her hold on the woman as the latter adjusted until she was somewhat seated like her, back pressing against her forefront. Luthor remained undisturbed on the American's lap, his little arms still hugging the plushy versions of the two of them.

Truly, Omen deserved more than just mere thanks for making those crocheted versions of themselves.

"Good morning, darling." Viper murmured, turning her head and offering a soft kiss on Killjoyʼs cheek, where she then rested her head against. "The day's just begun, and you're already thinking too much."

"Oh, you know me." Killjoy gave a bit of a grand gesture with one hand, stopping said movements when Viper delicately stole her hand and brought it up to her lips.

"I do." Viper murmured, nipping at Killjoyʼs knuckles before she spoke against her fingers. "So tell me what's on your mind."

Killjoy softened at not only the words, but the affirming affection as well. Rarely did Viper let herself be this loving towards her, which was probably why Killjoy appreciated the mornings more and a sleepy version of the scientist. Her lover was always so willing to give when it was just the two of them, especially whenever they're together in such an early hour. Sleepy Viper was one of the best Vipers.
