Recombinant 022
Pairings: Reyna x Sage / Sova & Omen

Things have been strange recently.

For Luthor, at least. He may be a mere child, but that didn't mean the little things always escaped him. Killjoy hadn't spent the day with him like she promised, and then she learned from Viper that they had something to discuss about him and that Mutti was in big trouble.

Then, the consolation he was supposed to get wasn't even received, since there was some emergency that happened that required Teyze to pick him up in the doctor's quarters and transfer him back to his. He had a few questions he wanted to ask either Viper or Killjoy personally, but all those were set aside once he and Yu Zyn were distracted by the newcomer, who they admittedly found frightening upon first meeting.

Every new individual they were introduced to always prompted them both to have their guard up, mainly because of how they viewed strangers as possible threats to the life they were fortunately gifted with by fate. And so, when they were spending most of the day with Reyna watching over them, the two kids were caught entirely off-guard when Sage came by the door and dropped someone over before taking a rather swift leave.

Yu Zyn could barely react to her other parent's immediate departure, for she and Luthor froze from their places around the coffee table where they were playing with their toys. Reyna was carrying a scrawny, little kid, thinner than Luthor was when they found him, seemingly around the same age as them, and vastly different from their physical attributes.

Between the two of them, Yu Zyn was much braver than Luthor, but rather than instantly greeting the new arrival, she stayed where she was and allowed Luthor to scoot around the table until he was somewhat hiding behind her.

"Mami," Yu Zyn spoke up, cautiously standing up, while Luthor copied her gesture a couple of seconds later. "what is that?"

Reyna slightly frowned at her daughter's choice of words. Though she knew the girl didn't mean to sound so offensive, she tutted in return and said, "Now, now, mi princesa. He is a friend."

"Uhm..." Luthor was peeking around Yu Zyn's shoulder, expression twisted with uncertainty as he audited the other boy's appearance. "What's with his face? Why does it look like that?"

Said child was laggardly looking around, trying to pinpoint where the voices were coming from. With his quiet and relatively gritty voice, he asked, "Where me? Who, who talk there?"

"Little one," Reyna delicately placed the boy on his feet and just a few feet away from the other two before kneeling on one knee beside him. "I would like you to meet a few others like you."

"Like... me?"

"Yes."

Keeping one hand on the child's back, Reyna turned to Yu Zyn and Luthor and reached her other hand out to her daughter. Yu Zyn was still unsure if the new kid posed any danger to them or not, but she trusted Reyna enough to dismiss her reservations and let her mother pull her a couple of steps forward.

"The girl in front of you right now is Yu Zyn." Reyna released her child and took one of the boy's hands to first check if the latter was calm enough to not accidentally blind Yu Zyn the same way he did with Sage. When Reyna noticed no change with her sense of vision, even with the direct touch, she finally let her daughter shake his hand. "She is my daughter."

Yu Zyn, though hesitant, didn't pull away from the handshake. "Uhh, hi."

Seeing as his friend was handling the interaction well, Luthor gathered some courage into stepping forward as well. This prompted Reyna to do the same process before letting Luthor have his turn with his own introductory handshake.
