Recombinant 005
Pairings: Viper x Killjoy / Reyna x Sage / Fade x Neon

The operations VALORANT involved themselves in were always precarious. Even if it was just a simple reconnaissance mission, back-up plans were always placed on top of back-up plans. There was nothing wrong with being prepared for any possibilities, both positive and negative.

Neon knew she needed to expect the unexpected. Everything was unpredictable out on the field. No one ever foresaw that they'd be fighting against dimensional twins of theirs, yet that was precisely what they later realized they were doing.

And now, Neon had just been told by Brimstone that she would be going out on a field assignment alongside Fade of all people. The same person she's been feeling vigilant towards ever since the incident at the training range.

They were VALORANT agents and it was inevitable for their paths to cross again, but Neon was hoping it wouldn't just be the two of them. She was banking on being accompanied by one or two more individuals, but sadly, the Legion left them no choice but to utilize their numbers. There was suspicious activity at the small town of Sirince in Turkey, which they found out through a transmission Cypher intercepted recently.

It was said to be some sort of illegal Radianite trade. The only reason why Brimstone wasn't sending more than two agents was because based on their intel, it didn't seem to have any connection with their otherworldly counterparts or the people of the Kingdom themselves. It was safe to say that a pair of operatives, one that was swift and one that was already familiar with the area, would be more than enough to deal with the matter.

Neon would've asked why they didn't assign Jett in her place, and she wouldn't admit it outright, but she found herself wishing she was put in charge of Luthor and Yu Zynʼs supervision again. Or at least have another agent to interact with and maybe stay in between her and Fade to further minimize their interaction with one another.

The people at Sirince were quite welcoming, at least. Neon wasn't sure if it was because she was a foreigner that they assumed was a tourist, or if it was because of Fade, who spoke familiarly with everyone they encountered.

Honestly, Neon felt like the people there were easily too trusting. But, then again, she couldn't fault them for being so, especially since she's someone who came from a country that was definitely a sucker for hospitality.

Maybe it was just the coat she was wearing. With her usual field gear not being too common of an attire, Neon was pretty much forced to wear something on top of her battlesuit in order to blend in with society. Between the two of them, Fade was the only one who didn't need any sort of disguise.

The only thing the Turkish agent needed to remove were the pouches and utility belts she usually wore. Unlike Neon's attire, hers was more casual-looking and despite looking a bit eccentric with her choice of clothing, she fit in with the rest of the people just fine.

For the sixth time, Neon shifted on the chair she was settled on, tugging on the collar of her puffer jacket. Fade ultimately came back to the outdoor table of the café they were lounging at, placing a cup of coffee in front of the duelist before she occupied the vacant seat across Neon.

"Mirra for me," Fade said, placing her cup down on her side of the table before sliding Neon her own. "Dibek for you."

Neon looked like she almost completely curled up on her seat at the sight of the hot drink. She briefly narrowed her eyes at the caffeine, nose scrunching up once she leaned in and took a sniff.

Right across the Filipino, Fade watched her with her own cup of coffee in hand, eyebrow quirking in interest and amusement glinting in her eyes. "Not a fan of coffee?"
