Wings of the Light (features Original Characters)

One moment was all it took to change a person's life forever. For a relatively fair part of the world's population, it was the First Light. Rather than a rise of a new race, the balance of the Earth was challenged by those who ascended to a level no one ever foresaw to come of existence. Strength found a shortcut, greed began to fester stronger than ever and power became easily acquired through the unorthodox occurrence.

It may not seem so well, but on the other side of things, lives were filled with wonder. Chances were unexpectedly given to some that never expected it. Chances that allowed human-turned-Radiant individuals into seeing more behind the everyday life they once were generally a part of.

For Astra, the First Light introduced her to a vast expanse of stars, time, sights and visions. The astral realm was a sight no other human could have envisioned it would be. Time and universe beyond, Astra witnessed everything with her own two eyes. Whether it was in her sleep or in the moments of her meditation, the endless marvels proved to indeed have no limit.

Colors eternally shimmering like jewels, Astra never found anything dull in the astral plane. Though it was filled with unfathomable extravagance, the Ghanaianʼs attention was immediately stolen by a feather fluttering down from the magnificent space above.

Astra had been flying through the realm as her physical body laid peacefully on the bed in her private quarters. Exploring, floating, letting herself be whisked off to wherever the seemingly infinite space took her. Yet, the freeing flight slowed to a halt the second the aforementioned feather, one that was pitch black and adorned with the touch gold at the tip, glided across her face.

It was no wing, yet it flew around Astra as if it was purposely calling her attention. It remained its level of flight as it continued to circle Astra in a natural and deliberate pace until the latter finally raised her hands together and let it come to a land on her palms.

Her thumb brushed across the edges of the feather, eyebrows furrowing in curiosity as she silently asked herself where it came from and what it meant. Was it some sort of sign? Did it signify something unfortunate, or did it hold a much deeper, more meaningful purpose?

It's as if Astra was brought back to the first time she discovered she became a Radiant. She was uncertain of what the feather meant. Even though she believed that she had yet to master the full potential of her powers and know every little thing it presented her, she never thought ill of the feather. In fact, despite not knowing what it represented, Astra made certain she caught the feather and took it along with her wherever she went in the unreachable realm she always entered whenever she slept or meditated.

It was no person, but traversing through the limitless domain with the black and gold plume provided her a sense of company that made her astral journey less lonesome.

Vehicles floating above and animals, whether they had wings or not, flying across the sky wouldn't be too surprising for Reyna. After all, she was capable of hovering off the floor whenever she used a specific ability of hers. Not to mention she also had a fellow agent who could literally control the wind and practically had flight as a natural trait.

But, the sighting of a winged individual soaring through the evening skies of Madrid certainly was one worthy for Reynaʼs attention. The first ones she approached about the initial news was Cypher, who was more than happy to assist her after being struck with his own curiosity.

Fade, despite being relatively new to the Protocol, was also quick to offer her own skill in tracking down whoever the person was. She managed to gather as much info as Cypher did in his own search. Eventually, all findings were compiled and handed off to Reyna, who wasted no time in arranging a little meeting with Brimstone.
