Aries POV
I was upstairs in mine and Gemini's dorm, searching through the stuff on my desk. "First I'm late to second period because of Gemini's crazy vision, now I forget my project," I muttered, sorting through the teacups. (Don't ask) Suddenly, my phone started ringing. I picked it up.
"Hey, Capricorn. What's up?"
There was some static, then: "Hey, Ari." My stomach immediately flipped, just like every other time he called me that. "Um, listen, look out your window."
"What the hell, Cap?" I looked out my window and saw nothing there just as the call disconnected. I frowned and called him back. He picked up almost immediately.
"Hey, Ari. What's up?"
My stomach flipped, but not just with — whatever I felt. "Hey, um, did you just call me?"
"No . . Why?"
"Because you just did."
"What the heck — I thought phones weren't allowed in your class?"
"Yeah, but I'm not in class. I'll explain later." I switched the call to FaceTime and saw him with his earbuds in, leaning back in his chair. He looked so effortlessly good that my chest hurt. "I thought phones weren't allowed in your class?"
"I'm a senior," he told me with an easy smile. "I can do whatever I want." His brow creased. "But I definitely didn't call you."
"Maybe Gem was right," I murmured, leaning to look at the window. "You told me to look out my wind — OH SHIT."
"What?" Cap asked.
"Umm, I'm gonna have to call you back," I said facing my phone again. Cap looked worried, but didn't protest as I ended the call. I looked out the window again. It was still there.
"It" as in a shimmering bright form flickering in the wind. It looked like it was made of . . Fire?
"Please go away," I whispered. To my surprise, it drifted backwards and disappeared. My heart beating fast, I shut the blinds on the window as quickly as I could and tried to resume searching for my project.
