Aries POV
I stared at the ceiling, the only awake person in a room full of sleeping people.
We'd done a Marvel movie marathon in the main room, and now everyone was camped out on either the couches, floor, or armchairs. The only one that wasn't asleep yet besides me was Capricorn, who was in the kitchen getting some water.
A warm feeling grew in my chest when I thought of him, and I turned in my position of laying on the couch with a blanket draped over my legs as sleep tried to take over my mind. I put my head on the arm of the couch as me and Gemini's talk from earlier came to my mind.
"You're sad," Gemini said, playing with her sleeve as we both sat on my bed.
I looked up from my computer, even though I knew what she was talking about. "What do you mean?"
Gemini rolled her eyes. "I mean, you've been happy ever since Cap came back but you've also been sad. Really sad. And you won't give me a straight answer when I ask you about it."
I exhaled slowly. "Gem--"
"No." She cut me off and gave me a serious look. "Is this about what Drake did? Because I can --"
"It's not about what Drake did, Gem," I said, a cold feeling brewing in my chest. I set my computer down and hugged my knees to my chest, putting my chin on top of my knees as I thought of what happened in the hospital. My cheeks burned and I looked down.
Gemini waved her hand in front of my face. "One of the downsides of having me as your best friend is that I'm nosy. Spill it."
I looked at her, the memory of Capricorn hugging me fresh in my mind, and blushed some more. "I guess you won't believe me if I say it's nothing."
She nodded seriously.
I sighed, the feelings of hurt and heartache springing back, but they were different this time, because I knew that Capricorn wasn't going to die. He was alive. He was here.
But that was also the reason why.
I closed my eyes as the feelings welled up in my heart, letting myself feel as bad as I could, letting myself openly think about the fact that I had come face-to-face with a week ago.
"It hurts," I said quietly.
Gemini feel silent and looked at me, as if she knew I was finally going to say what was going on with me.
I buried my head in my knees to avoid looking at her expression when I told her. "I'd forgotten how good it felt to be around Cap -- I missed him so much. But now that we're friends again . . ." I trailed off, gritting my teeth as I felt tears well up in my eyes. What was I, a fountain?
