Entry 14

Dax helped me to find an apartment near the school the next day. I stayed in their house for three nights and two days before I finally transferred to the apartment we chose. Dax made sure na secure ang apartment na tutuluyan ko, but it also means na mataas din ang renta.

But it's fine with me. Dahil sa iba naming pinuntahan na buildings, it's either marumi or kailangan ko ng ibang kasama. And I don't want to live with someone else in the room. It's my first time and I want to figure out things on my own.

It's not a luxurious apartment my parents would imagine I'm living in right now, but it's fine with me. There's a small bathroom near my bed and there's a kitchen—which looks like just an extension of the room but I consider it my kitchen— and it's empty. The whole house is empty except for the bed with no mattress.

Umupo ako sa tiled floor at pumangalumbaba habang paulit-ulit kong pinapasadahan ng tingin ang kabuuan ng kwarto, trying to think if I can make changes to make it look lively at least.

Dax showed me how to commute in a public transportation and I have done this for the past days and I think I can do it alone now. I expected for the driver to remember it pero nang makita kong lumagpas na ang sinasakyan ko sa mall ay pumara ako.

I'm not used to the heat outdoor the reason why I feel so exhausted when I entered the mall and I only relaxed when I finally felt the cold from the aircon.

I bought a stove with oven, a small refrigerator, a 30 inches flat screen television, some curtains, a study table, a dining table good for four people, one sofa, and a complete set of kitchen tools and utensils. I wrote my name and address for the delivery of those later this afternoon as I pay in the cashier. I also bought some necessities I need.

"Ninety-seven thousand and four hundred three pesos." The cashier told me.

I took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Last na 'to. Promise."

I relaxed when I realized my parents didn't freeze my cards. I have two credit cards with me— the first one is the black card which my father gave to me on my birthday last year, and the other one is for my college funds. I used the card for my college funds because mom puts extra funds in that account for spending money. I'm very well aware that they will know my transactions but I don't care anymore.

It's been exactly four days since I left home but I never heard anything from them. A part of me is happy that they are not intruding in my decision, but who am I kidding? They are probably out there and thinking about their next move on how to forcefully push me back at home. I just wish that they will give me more time.

Hugging a paper bag in my chest and another paper bag in my hand, I pulled out my key to open my apartment when I realized that it was already opened. My eyebrows pinched together and entered my apartment.
