Vampire King Cain was elusive as they got. He was never seen out in public, never spoke to anyone apart from the people in his inside circle. If he did speak to you, it was because you had refused to cooperate with the people he had sent before and it was time for you to cower in fear and die. He conducted his business through trusted people in his service. Some supernaturals lived their entire lives without meeting him. Select few even knew what he looked like. He was rumored to have killed so many that he couldn't resist the urge to tear people's throats out on sight which was why he was so secluded. He was also rumored to be hideous and that no witch could fix that and that was the reason he hid away.

Of course Kat knew the last rumor to be wrong since her sister, Karen worked as his second in command and that was the only information she was able to supply to her, and that also was in confidence.

But one thing was for certain, Vampire King Cain was not to be messed with. People who never met him should have counted themselves lucky, which usually they did.

So you could imagine Kat's fear and shock when her sister showed up out of the blue to tell her that during the meeting, the Vampire King all of a sudden showed up and demanded they stop everything and get Katrina Kaif into that room immediately.

"What do you mean he demanded to see me? He doesn't even know I exist! You never say anything about your family. Why does he know my name? What is this Karen? I'm not even supernatural! What does he want with me?!" Kat asked question upon question in her panic as her sister dragged her out of school.

"Calm down Kat. You'll be fine"

"Easy for you to say. You're not the one whose sister who has been away for a year now showed up out of the blue to say 'Happy birthday Kat, King Cain demands to see you immediately' now are you?" She asked snippily.

"Kat you'll be fine. I won't let anything happen to you, you know that"

"Yeah well what if he plans my execution to let peace reign between us and the Jinn huh? The whole Council would vote against you and I'd be dead!" She exclaimed as they stumbled through the woods. Well she stumbled. Karen walked gracefully and proudly like the warrior she was.

"You're overthinking things Kat" Karen said and sighed like she was the one being served on a silver platter to the enemy by someone she loved and thought loved her too.

"Yeah of course I am because that's what happens when I get nervous. You know what else happens? My mouth starts speaking and it doesn't stop. Or I do something absolutely stupid and embarrass myself and everyone around me!"

Karen abruptly stopped and held Kat's arms, making sure she looked her in the eye.

"Sweetie you have nothing to fear from King Cain. He won't hurt you. Not all you've heard about him is true okay. Just try to keep an open mind and relax. I won't let anyone in that room hurt my baby sister" Kat smiled and hugged her. Though she wasn't a big hugger, Karen sighed and hugged her back.

"Okay now let's go. And for heavens sake no jokes about sex" Kat smiled.

"No promises"

They got to a wall of plants which Karen pushed aside and knocked a special tune in vamp speed so that Kat could only barely hear that it was actually a tune at all. The door slid back and then slid to the right, opening a wide space in the walls for them to walk through. As they walked it began to get narrower so that Karen had to walk in front of her. She began to feel clustrophobic.

"Someone get that ugly thing out of my face" Kat said, swiping at a spider that descended from the ceiling of the cave. "Hey that's what she.." "If you're about to make a joke about sex then I suggest you stop. Every supernatural in there can hear you now" Karen whispered and Kat pouted. They stopped in front of a door at the end of the tunnel and Karen knocked at that same super speed. It opened and Kat couldn't help but gasp. She was surrounded by all the famed leaders of all the species of supernaturals in the human realm. The power levels in the place was off the charts. The room was large and beautifully decorated. It looked like a boardroom with two large and long oak wood tables at opposite sides of the large room that left a large space in the middle. There was a chandelier hanging from the tall ceiling and the tapestries on either walls were red and covered with paintings of former leaders. The ground was surprisingly tiled. She felt the phrase 'the better to trip and fall with my dear' come to mind.
