Kat was swamped. She couldn't even care less about anything supernatural. Not when everyone was studying. It was time for finals and she was swamped. She personally didn't need to study so much. She was all studied out and ready for the exams. But the people with her major and even some outside of it needed her help. Finals. The one time her friend group dramatically broadened. A lot of people knew that Kat was really smart because they were all in the same highschool and she was valedictorian and never, not even once, got less than an A. So when they had exams and tests, they flocked to her to explain what they didn't understand. The University was very high achieving and could drop you if you slipped below it's standards. So no one wanted to fail.
"Kat come on, I need help on this neuropsychology thing" a guy whose name she didn't even know said.
"I'm sorry I'll be right there. I just need to finish here" she said to him.
Jan caught her eye from across the room and winked.
Janice was almost as smart as Kat. She was very determined and strove for the grades she kept perfect. But not much people knew that because she was always on the down low. Although she was salutatorian in highschool. She could have been helping Kat go round the lecture hall and tutor people but no. She decided to stay at the corner and silently study and snicker at Kat's predicament.
After a few more hours of going from desk to desk and tiring herself out, everyone finally retired for the night. Kat sighed in exhaustion as she sank into the chair beside Jan.
"You're just a little bitch aren't you" she groaned.
"I don't know what you mean" Jan said and laughed.
"Can't believe Chris bailed and went home early. I hope she fails" Kat joked sulkily.
"Well let's get going. It's times like these I wish we lived on campus" Jan said as she stood up and pulled Kat with her.
"I know right" Kat sighed.
"How are we gonna get home since Chris ditched us? She was our ride" Jan complained.
"We could take an Uber" Kat suggested.
"Or I could drive you guys" Logan said all of a sudden. They turned and there he was, leaning on the door post.
"Thank you sweetie" Kat said and pecked his lips. They walked to his car and slid in. Kat found herself falling asleep. She woke up to say goodbye to Jan and then slipped back again.
"Hey, why didn't you stay for our study session?" Kat asked drowsily.
"Um I had some stuff to attend to" Kat sighed. She was happy with him. But it seemed that he constantly avoided hanging out with her in places where people in the University were gathered. She felt like he was still ashamed of her.
"Hmm alright" she muttered. But her sleep was cleared.
They arrived in front of her house and Kat kissed him goodnight and left.

It was over. The torture was finally over. Finals were over! After two torturous weeks, they were finally over.Kat hadn't heard from Aldron for a while but Bub had surprisingly been her rock through the annoying world of exams and studying. Even Black served as comic relief through her stress. He wouldn't appear to her but kept conversing with her as a voice without a body.
In two days, Kat was obligated to attend a royal event. Karen and King Cain were set to announce their engagement to the Vampire community.
But for now, she'd enjoy her freedom. It was summer! She was gonna have fun. Of course, she wasn't going to swim. She still couldn't. But it didn't mean she couldn't sun bathe. Which was what she was doing at Ash's house. He had a pool.
