Chris had always been a party girl. She loved to dress up and flaunt her good looks to the world. Dance like no one was watching and drink till she was drunk. She of course had to behave and not make a fool of herself as it would be making a fool of the royal Fae family and by extension, the entire fae community. But she still managed to have the best time. Kat on the other hand loved to keep a low profile. She would rather stay home and curl up with a good book. Jan was the same way, only worse. She was painfully shy at times and had a phone for just her novels. She always brought it to the parties that she couldn't get out of attending and found a quiet place to read.
You would think their hatred for parties usually ensured that Chris was outnumbered when she brought up the idea of attending a party, and sometimes it did, although rarely. Chris was very persistent and when she didn't want to party alone, she wouldn't.
"Come on guys. It'll be fun! We deserve it with all the studying we've been doing lately" Chris begged.
"I hate partying Chris, you know that" Kat complained.
"It'll help take your mind off your nightmares" Kat regretted telling them about the nightmares if it was going to be used against her in such a manner.
"It was one little nightmare. No biggie"
"No biggie? Yes biggie! You need to loosen up, have fun" she wiggled her hips in a little goofy dance.
"Jan back me up here" both Kat and Chris said in unison.
"Oh no, I'm not getting in the middle of this. Sort it out yourselves. Just know that I'm not coming" Jan looked up from her phone to say. She returned to the book right after.
"Oh come on. You just practically backed Kat up!"
"If I go, will you stop screaming?" Jan asked.
"Yes, yes, yes! Kat, now it's two against one"
Kat rolled her eyes.
"If I go I am not wearing a dress" she finally aquisesed.
"Of course, of course. I'll tell Josie we're coming" she squealed and ran out of Kat's room with her phone, probably to dail Josie, a girl on campus who they didn't quite talk to much. But she threw the best parties that was for sure.
"Can't believe we let her wear us down" Kat groaned. She sank into her bed beside Jan. They both laid on their backs and looked up at the ceiling.
"So what really happened when you went away with Lucifer?" Jan asked, glancing at Kat through the side of her eye.
"Like I said-" "And don't give me the Kat's humourous evasive version. That doesn't work on me and you know it" Kat sighed.
"We talked a little, argued, he set me on fire, you know the usual"
"He set you on fire? I thought Jason said he'd make sure his brother wouldn't hurt you?" Jan sat up and stared intensely at Kat like she was checking her for injuries.
"I riled him up really" Kat confessed.
"What did he even want with you anyway?"
"It's a long story"
"I've got time. Spill" Kat sighed and spill she did. She told her everything. Every part that she'd left out. When she was done she felt lighter. Wow she missed confiding in Jan. Kat always told Jan everything but it seemed like they'd drifted apart since the start of all that had happened to her.
"So.. you're gonna date Logan now" Jan said.
"Yup"
"But I actually haven't seen you guys together at school"
