Chapter 35. Omni

Kat

"It's almost time. He'll soon be here!" It cheered.

"Who?" Kat asked.

"Well my master of course"

"Oh I see. So you're just a messenger, a puppet on a string if you may" she received a kick to the shin for her efforts.

"You just don't know when to shut up do you?"

Kat shrugged.

It rolled it's eyes. "Enough. Time to start the spell" she drew a perfect circle with white sand around her and the fire and began chanting a spell under her breath.

Kat thought of the last words her mother whispered to her before she woke up. "Whatever else you are, I'm a witch so you are too. Casting spells is in your blood" with that thought, she began casting her own spell.

Inside her mind's eye, she saw it. She saw her powers. They were in form of burning ice. It was eerie but absolutely beautiful.

She walked forward and placed her hand in the fire, atop the ice. She then continued chanting the spell. She didn't know how she knew the words to the spell or the language but she simply went with it.

She was suddenly interrupted by a hand pulling her to her feet. But no matter, she was done anyway.

"It's time to meet my master" it cheered.

The energy, the level of power in the air increased dramatically, almost overwhelmingly. And it was so evil Kat almost choked with the pungency.

"Master" the shape shifter bowed. Actually bowed. Well Kat wasn't one to talk. She felt like bowing too. 

"You have done well Zoë" a voice Kat assumed was Bel-quan's stated.

"Thank you master" she straightened.

Slowly, a man appeared from the shadows as if one of them. His hair was black as midnight and flowed straight and silky to his lower back. His eyes were the same blue that Jason, Bub and Kayden shared. His face was ruggedly handsome with the days stubble scattered on his chin. He looked normal enough. But in the depth of those eyes, there was pure unhinged evil.

"The blade" he said to Zoë. She quickly placed the blade of Azarath in his palm and he closed his fingers around it. He began slowly deliberately walking toward her.

"So your the being with the ultimate power? The being destined to destroy me? Pathetic"

"I have a name you know and I would appreciate if you used it when addressing me"

He laughed, a booming sound that scared her at first.

"I see the rumors about your big mouth are true"

Kat grinned. "Someone's spreading rumors about me? From what I'm hearing all good things too"

"Oh if you only knew the pain I could cause you. The anguish and bitter sorrow I could make you feel without even spilling a drop of your precious blood. Interesting that you're my son's mate. He was always such a loving soul. Too bad he didn't get to love you for long. Goodbye Omni" and then the blade was moving towards her heart. She put forward her hand and the blade froze in place. Then she grabbed it from him and grinned.

"I like to do things my way if you don't mind. I'm a control freak like that" and with that she plunged the blade into her heart.

"No!" She heard Kayden tell in the most anguished, defeated tone she'd ever held. But it was only for a second before everything went blank.
