Kat sighed as her friends debated between themselves what the dragon mage wanted from her. They spoke as if she wasn't there. She had told them all about what happened during the Council meeting and in Bub's house.
After Jason's announcement, she had glared at him and proceeded to argue that the Dragon mage had been extinct during the great war against the Jinn, as everyone thought.
"Shut up Katrin. As I said, they did not die. They survived the great war" She didn't bother to correct him at the time. Mostly because the last time she tried to do that, he hung her upside down, floating in the air and set the air around her ablaze. One move and she would've burned. She had to stay perfectly still as Jason walked through the flames which did nothing to him and carried her down. It might have been romantic if he hadn't laughed at her as he carried her.
"If they survived then where have they been all this time? I haven't heard one thing about them since the war except that they were extinct. They couldn't have been in the magical dimension because the Jinns would have killed them. They can't stay too long on earth due to the spell of the original Salem witches. The only other place they could have possibly survived this long is..."" she then trailed off as it hit her. "They're in hell aren't they?"
"Yes" Bub sighed. "The remaining thousand or so made a deal with me and everyone knows I'm a sucker for deals. They made me a spell that allows me to come and go to earth and the magical realm as I please without needing to use a portal and I opened my home to them"
"Well what do they want on earth now and what has that got to do with me and my friends?" She asked him.
"Well it wasn't part of my house rules that they can't come to earth if they find a loop hole in the Salem witches spell so technically they aren't breaking my rules. As for what they may want with you all I have no idea nor do I care one way or another"
"Wow that's helpful thanks" she said sarcastically to Bub, then turned to Jason.
"Thanks for everything. Sorry for keeping you from school. I'll be leaving now" she said and got up. Both Jason and Bub stood with her.
"Oh I don't have any classes today. I'll see if I can find out more about the Dragon mage. Meanwhile, you could look in King Cain's library for anything on dragon mage, Karen I'm sure you can gain access. We'll try to narrow down the specifics." he said as he walked her out to her sister. Karen hugged her immediately she stepped out then checked her for injuries.
"Are you okay?" She asked, glaring at what she assumed was Bub behind her.
"I'm fine. I trust you heard everything?" Karen nodded after releasing Kat.
"Let's go back home. There's still time for you to go to school" Kat rolled her eyes.
"Thanks Jason, rot in hell Lucifer"
Karen picked her up and was already moving when Bub said "Say hi to Cain for me"They arrived home and rushed her and soon dumped her in school and, she suspected, proceeded to discuss the next course of action without her.
Now as she walked with her friends, she couldn't help but look for Logan among the throngs of people in the hallways. She felt he needed to know what was going on. Afterall his mate bond had been ripped from his heart rudely too.
"He's not on campus today. He didn't show. You may have had King Cain to heal you and keep the pain away but he may not have access to that kind of magic" Ash whispered to her. She sighed. He was right. And she told him as much.
"Do you think they even realize I'm right here" Kat said the last part loud so Jan and Chris could snap out of their debate.
The group strode into caf and Kat sighed as she followed them to the supposed popular table- honestly she felt the whole idea of it was juvenile and wished everyone would grow up already- That meant everyone was staring at them, particularly her. She was a nobody. So why did she get to sit at the popular table? She was the bullied kid. She didn't belong among the elite. She knew they all thought that and to be honest she thought it too sometimes.
