"Hello Cain, long time no see" said the burning ball of head.
"Hello to you too Lucifer. How has hell been treating you?" Now this would have been a casual conversation between friends except it wasn't. The two supernaturals obviously did not like one another.
"Oh it has been well but I feel a vacation is in order. I have some unfinished business on earth"
"He means his brother wouldn't go back with him so he's here begging him" Kat said with a smirk. The fire increased dramatically.
"Well when you do settle, my gates are open to you anytime" Cain said.
"You're only saying that because you know nothing can keep me out"
"Well better I feel I invited you than you walking in like you own the place"
"I'm all for this conversation right now but Bub I need to know, will you go with me?" Kat interrupted their banter. They both glared at her. Instead of hiding behind her mother like she wanted to, she stood her ground and cocked a brow.
"Let me think" Bub said and the flames seemed to flow out of the fireplace and burn in the room. Bub walked out of it dressed in a black dress shirt which he folded to his elbow probably to accentuate his bulging muscles and black slacks. His loafers were black and shiny and probably cost more than her house.
"Hello Karen, nice to see you again" Bub smirked at her. Suddenly she was in front of him with her dagger to his throat. Although she was slightly shorter than him, she managed to look menacing.
"If you ever threaten to hurt my sister or so much as lay a finger on her pretty head, I will gut you as many times as it would take till I feel better. And you may not be able to die but you would feel the pain" she said.
"Commander as much as I would love to see you hurt Beelzebub, I have an important matter to discuss with you"
Karen sighed and moved away from him. Kat smiled her appreciation to her sister who nodded.Bub cracked his neck from side to side and then smiled a wicked smile that promised retribution.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow. Be ready when I get here" and then Bub vanished.
Cain bowed slightly "I will be off now. Karen if you'd care to join me" he said. Karen nodded. She said goodbye to her family, asked them to pass it on to Damon who was apparently staying on campus, and disappeared out the door in vampire speed with Cain.
"Oh sweetie, why's all this happening? I just want to wrap you in my arms and protect you from the world" Kat's mom said as she did wrap her in her arms.
"Oh, if only if it were that easy" she said and sighed. She really needed that hug. The thought of facing Logan again...
"I feel like I'm not doing anything to protect my little girl" her dad said as he pulled her into a hug as soon as soon as her mom released her.
"Of course you are dad. When I was in eighth grade who went to school and threatened to beat up the principal if he didn't let him take his little girl home coz she'd been injured?" Kat asked as he released her.
"That was different. We see you suffering from this pain and we can't do anything to help we have to turn to the King of vampires" her dad replied.
"Let's have dinner and talk about it" Her mom said and walked to the kitchen. Langdon went after her to help with the serving of food and setting of the table.
A few minutes later, the table was set and Kat, her mom and dad sat to eat.
During dinner, Kat had to constantly assure her parents that she was okay. Honestly it was hard to do because she was lying. She never told her parents about what he did to her because she was embarrassed. So she lied when she said she didn't mind going to see Logan and that she would be quite happy to fix their bond.
