She sat on her bed with Jan beside her and a whole bunch of books surrounding them. They each had two books in hand which they scanned through simultaneously.

Kat was determined to get to the bottom of everything. If no one was going to tell her, she'd damn well figure out herself what she had to do with whatever prophecy everyone wanted. She'd find out what was so important that her best friend would betray her.

"Kat" Jan said. Kat looked up and met her grey eyes with her green ones.

"You're wetting the book with your tears"

She hadn't even realized she was crying damnit! She furiously wiped her eyes clean.

"You know she's being forced into this right? She'd never betray us of her own volition" Jan said.

"I know. It still stings though"

"I know. I'm hurt too. But we've got to focus on getting to the bottom of this so we can help her"

"You're right. We need to narrow down our search though. Right now we're looking through every prophecy and that could take longer than forever" Kat said.

"How though? I know! let's write down and rub through what we know about this" she picked up a book and a pen.

"Alright we know that weird phrase that Aldron used. The beginning of the end. And what Rosa said about the five" Kat said. Jan nodded and wrote it down.

"There's the fact that he has to kill you at a specific time" Jan said.

"That's probably true. Because he kept saying in due time and that he'd kill me but just not now. So we have to assume that there's a particular time involved"

Jan scribbled. "Oh and there's the blade of Azarath. Since Aldron wanted it so bad we know it's a factor" she wrote again.

"And I think you had to come of age" Kat frowned.

"That could be true. I mean it can't be a coincidence that this all started when I turned eighteen"

"Also, there's something weird about you. You should've known that he was your mate when you were sixteen but you didn't. Late blooming maybe or does it have something to do with the prophecy" but Kat wasn't listening anymore. She thought about it. That night of her sixteenth birthday party, she'd felt something intense and magical when she had sex with Logan but she'd just chalked it up to a good orgasm. It was possible that it is was their mate bond clicking. But when he began saying all those cruel things to her, something must have happened to their bond. Did she somehow suppress it just as she somehow managed to break the bond when it was already formed?

"Jan. I think there's something you should know" Kat said. Jan looked at her and, seeing the seriousness in her eyes, nodded solemnly.

"I need you to use your power to make everyone that's in the house fall asleep and wake them back up when we're done" Kat said.

"Kat you know I don't use my powers where I can help it"

"And you know I don't ask unless it's an emergency. You also know this is the first time I'm asking. I don't want them to hear this. Please " Jan nodded.

She told her everything. About her secret relationship with Logan, the sex and what happened after and her suspicions.

"Oh my goodness Kat I'm so sorry you had to go through that alone. Why wouldn't you tell us? Me? You've known me forever. You know I wouldn't judge"

"I know but I was so hurt and embarrassed and I didn't want to face anyone. I didn't want anyone to know that I was so foolish. I didn't want you guys to think less of me"
