Chris
"She has to be punished!" Her father thundered.
"But your majesty, according to the Lord Aldron it wasn't her fault" Monty, a servant and Chris' only friend defended. Or tried.
Kat had escaped from Aldron and they blamed her because no one else knew the location but her family and Aldron himself.
Now not only did she have to worry about Kat's safety, she had to worry about hers too.
"I don't care what Aldron says. He doesn't know her like I do. She's a little goody two shoes and she has no regard for authority. Get my daughter Monty!" Hearing that, Chris turned away from the door of the throne room where she stood eves dropping. She ran quickly and silently to the secret passage that led to her room. Her father had them built in for the servants so they could come and go without being seen by the guests when they had any. She hurried because if she was caught eves dropping her punishment would be a lot worse.
She made it to her room and was seated on her bed by the time Monty knocked.
"Co.." her voice cracked a bit and she paused and cleared her throat. "Come in" he opened the door and bowed then walked in.
"I'm guessing you know why I'm here" he said. She sighed and got up.
"Yeah. He's not letting this go is he?" Monty shook his head no. "Thanks for trying"
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more" he said. She nodded and blinked back tears. She squared her shoulders and followed him to the throne room.
"Father" she curtsied. "You requested my presence"
"I did. Why am I hearing that the girl escaped without giving us what we want? And I don't know how that blade was lost but I suspect you also had something to do with it"
"I didn't. I don't know father"
"You were the one so hell bent on not taking her. You were the only who knew where she was and would risk my wrath to save her so where is she?" He thundered.
"I don't know father. I didn't take her, I promise" she replied calmly. When her father was this aggravated, the best thing to do was remain calm. Not because it would help but because nothing would.
"You insolent little girl! Do you think I'm stupid?"
Just then, her mother strode in, blonde hair styled to perfection, as were her dress and shoes, as usual.
"What is going on here?" She asked.
"The girl has escaped and I'm positive she has something to do with it"
"Well if you're so sure why are you asking her then?" She paused beside Chris. "Stand up straight"
"I want her to admit it! Martins do not lie!"
"I didn't help her escape Father I promise" but she was once more ignored.
"I know just how to make you stop lying you ungrateful child. Guards! Take her to Dungeon A"
Her heart sank to the pit of her stomach and the tears began flowing from her eyes.
"Father no! Please. Please Father I didn't do it. Please!" She begged and screamed as they dragged her to Dungeon A, her father's personal torture chamber.
"Father please!" She begged as they chained her to the chair. They left and her father came in, a murderous look in his eye. She knew then that nothing she said would change his mind. Even if she confessed and told him what he wanted to hear.
