WalkingStick: it's not steve Rogers that's recognizable, it's captain America, which has been pointed out by Tony Stark himself. When people see CA, their looking at the star that stands for their country, not the man. You can see a lot of this in CA: Winter Soldier
vroomvroom: same thing with Spider-Man. It's not likely that he'd be believed if he revealed his identity. Plus, he probably wouldn't follow his faith out of fear of being hated more by his classmates (at least in the 60s)
