Summary: The reader is in for a surprise when her girlfriend Bora yells at Siyeon for staring at her.

"Jealous, right?" you asked, staring at the girl in the seat next to you with a challenge in your eyes.

Lee Siyeon blinked hard, her bubblegum suddenly popping against her full peach lips. "What?"

You just sighed and rolled your eyes, facing forward in your chair. Every day, Siyeon leaned against her desk with her arms propping up her head, her eyes always skimming and then resting on various parts of your body with envious eyes.

Being popular had its grievances. Nobody ever knew that you were rich because your father was killed in a car accident, leaving you and your mother with copious amounts of insurance money. Nobody ever knew that you were skinny because you had health issues since childhood, severely limiting your diet. Nobody ever knew that you were quiet and kept to yourself because your school didn't speak your first language, so your studious ways barely kept your head above water.

Everyone believed what they wanted to believe about you instead. Yes, it was sort of nice to be idolized by the other girls in your class and the grades below you, but the labels that people had branded you with had resulted in you not having any friends, unless you counted your girlfriend, Kim Bora.

Bora was your polar opposite: loud, funny, and never serious or studious. Your relationship worked in some ways, but you knew that you were better off the way that you had started: as best friends. She was the only one you had had since childhood, and you regretting giving that up for a hookup one late night in your rooftop pool that suddenly turned into much more than that.

But you didn't want to risk losing your only confidant and supporter by breaking up with Bora, and it wasn't like you were unhappy. It just could have worked better for you both.

You stole a glance at Siyeon carefully, trying not to let her see you look. She didn't seem to notice your shifting eyes study her angular face and big brown eyes. She was quite pretty in her own way, and seemed very confident to boot. You were never exactly sure why she stared so ravenously at you the way that she always did. There were girls in the class that were objectively less eye-catching than Siyeon who didn't idolize you the way that Siyeon always seemed to, and the girl only had eyes for you – not even for Kim Minji, the other beautiful and second most popular senior.

You turned your attention back to the front of the classroom, where the door was swinging open and a petite brunette with her skirt rolled up to the shortest length that she could get away with was skipping towards you. You couldn't help but to smile at the sight. "Hi, my love," you greeted Bora sweetly, pulling her onto your lap as she sat next to you at your desk.

"Hi, baby," Bora replied cheerfully, giving you a peck on the cheek.

"That Siyeon is staring at me again," you mumbled against Bora's neck, speaking softly against her ear so that only she could hear you.

"She's just jealous of you, babe," Bora sniffed haughtily, smoothing your hair in a comforting motion. "As she should be."

You half-smiled, leaning your head against Bora's chest. As you did so, your gaze met Siyeon's again, but her eyes were looking right through you. You squinted, perplexed. She didn't act at all like she had noticed that your eyes had locked on hers.

"Bora," you whispered, tugging your girlfriend's uniform sleeve to get her attention away from watching Han Dong flirt with Lee Yubin - that would be all over the school within the next hour, thanks to your girlfriend.

"Hm?" Bora asked, glancing down at you.

"Look at Siyeon," you replied urgently under your breath, hoping that the girl's gaze hadn't wandered, although you felt as though you had little cause for concern, since it usually didn't.

Sure enough, your girlfriend jumped out of her chair and was on her feet in seconds, leaving you to have to steady yourself using the desk. She quickly placed a protective hand on your shoulder as she began yelling. "Would you stop staring at my girlfriend?! You're bothering her, you know! She's not just an object for everyone to be jealous of! She's a person, just—"

"Thanks, Bora, that's good," you said softly, patting your girlfriend's arm as you tried hard to duck your head in such a way that no one could see your blush. Even though you were a little annoyed at Siyeon – and everyone else who was irrationally jealous of you, for that matter – you almost felt like apologizing. You knew how terrifying Bora could be when she was mad.

But Siyeon didn't really seem to care. She just chuckled, not quite in a friendly manner, but not exactly in a mad one either – it was more sad than anything else. "Is that what you meant when you asked if I was jealous earlier?" she asked, clearly directing her question at you.

"I - well...s— yeah," you stammered. It wasn't like you to sound so insecure when you spoke. You were always careful to prepare your sentences well before speaking to ensure that you sounded as eloquent as possible.

"You're wrong," Siyeon said simply.

"What do you mean?" you asked quickly, no longer bothering to think about what you were saying anymore.

Siyeon stood up from her chair, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. It was suddenly clear to you that she was probably going to spend the rest of the period crying in the bathrooms. Her withering gaze shifted from you to your girlfriend as she spoke.

"You're not the one I'm jealous of."
