Therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. Therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. Therapy is nothing to be ashamed of.
That was the mantra you repeated to yourself as you walked up the staircase to the entrance of a residential-style building inconspicuously marked "Dreamcatcher Clinic."
But then again, when somebody had come up with that saying, were they really talking about this kind of therapy?
The kind that was making you drag your feet as you searched for the door marked "Dr. Kim Bora, CST?" Surely not, no, you were positive.
When you'd found the right door, you opened it to an eerily empty but beautiful waiting room with a lone receptionist at the desk who, thankfully, looked neither surprised nor bothered by your arrival despite having to pause the TV show playing on her phone.
The interior of the building was just as lovely as the cheery yellow exterior. Gorgeous greenery dripped from every sun-swathed corner, hanging from the wooden beams and little notches by the skylights. Against the walls, overstuffed couches and armchairs seemed to beckon you into their welcoming burgundy depths with the promise of nearby magazines and coffee for the taking.
You'd have to accept their invitation later, however, as you were currently being greeted. "Hello," the receptionist called, snapping your attention back to her. "May I help you?"
"Yes," you responded politely, stepping up to the circular desk that she was sitting behind. "I have an appointment at one-thirty."
The receptionist – Lee Yubin, her nameplate read – nodded and, after taking your insurance information, handed you a clipboard with documents to fill out and return. So much for perusing the magazines – though you did grab a muffin from the coffee table on your way to an armchair.
When you'd completed about half of the forms, the sound of a door opening and shutting made you look up.
A young woman with shockingly electric, tousled blue hair, whose face seemed to flush as she found you looking at her, was stopping at Yubin's desk. She exchanged a quiet conversation with the receptionist, the only part of which you could hear being "Thank you," as she flashed a smile.
As she exited, you returned your focus to the forms, feeling doubly nervous. Seeing as Dr. Kim's last client had left, there was no longer any feeble hope of them delaying your own appointment.
No, in fact, you hardly had time to sit back down after returning the clipboard to Yubin when the psychologist herself opened her office door, smiling widely at you. "Come on in."
Here goes nothing.
Formalities were exchanged and Bora, as she told you to call her, perched herself on top of her desk. Once you got settled on the couch across from her, she got right to the point. "So, what brings you to sex therapy?"
You were embarrassed that your face immediately flushed, but to be completely honest, you were just grateful that you didn't also choke on air.
"Um..." you stalled. It was hard to repress the urge to lie, but you reminded yourself that you were paying Bora to keep her mouth shut about whatever you told her, so you had better make the most of it. "I-I'm scared to lose my virginity."
Bora did not seem surprised in any way by your statement, and though you realized that she would probably hide any strong reactions for your sake, it made you feel more at ease.
