Summary: Siyeon and the reader spend a memorable night at the annual party where they first met.
♡
To those driving by the barn, it's just any other summer night. But to you and Lee Siyeon inside, it's the best one of the season. You'll be there until the morning, drinking and dancing until both make you dizzy.
It's just an annual tradition, a gathering of family and friends. Even to some who attend, it's just a casual event. But it's where you met her, three years ago, and neither of you have been quite the same since.
So, to the two of you, it's a special occasion, an anniversary of sorts.
Sometimes you don't quite realize how in love with her you are until you sit down and think about it. When you add all the little things up, it amazes you.
You still get butterflies when you see her face. Her smile can turn your bad days around. Her voice makes you grin without fail.
You didn't know what love was until you met her, and you love her more and more every day.
All the words in the world couldn't describe the feeling in your heart. You've tried, there are songs and poems and phrases, but nothing can express it well enough. You just contemplate it over and over again, hoping that one day you will be able to tell her just how much she means to you.
"Hey, babe!"
You can hear a laugh in Siyeon's voice even before you turn around to see her lips curled upwards, eyes following in a crescent-shaped expression. You can tell how happy she is by the way she's furrowed her brow. As she extends a bottle of beer to you, you pray that a blush won't give away the fact that the sight of her made your heart skip a beat.
"Let's go out by the band!"
The music permeates throughout the entire old building, but outside where the evening light shines on the gravel, it's a completely different feel. You forget that other people are still around you.
The members of Dreamcatcher, the band that attends every year without fail, are playing their hearts out on the small stage. It's hard to believe that the guitarists could compete with such amazing vocalists the way they do. You're so enthralled that you hardly notice Siyeon dancing beside you until she jostles your arm.
"Remember what I said to you three years ago?"
There's a soft smile on her face, emphasized by a slightly wrinkled nose – an expression that only befalls her when she looks at you.
"Right over there," you grin, pointing behind you at the barn deck. "'Please don't tell me you were here last year, and I missed meeting you.'"
"And you said—"
"—'I always regretted not coming that night, now I know why.'"
Siyeon clicks her tongue, shaking her head a bit. "Smooth."
"Don't know how I even managed to speak, really," you admit honestly, laughing.
Siyeon nudges your side again, clearly embarrassed – that much you can tell by the way that she evades your gaze. When she turns back a moment later, her sky blue hair swings on her shoulders.
She's a vision in her multicolored attire, a look bordering on hippie-like that only she could pull off. Crimson, floral-embroidered chiffon covers most of her tight black tanktop and some of her baggy, unzipped jeans. It's perfectly flowy and just the outfit for the question you already know is on the tip of her tongue.
