"This one?" You held up a sleek ebony pantsuit in your left hand first. "Or this one?" A slinky emerald slip dress dangled from your right.
"What does it matter if Yoohyeon takes it all off of you anyway?" your best friend joked.
If you had known in that moment just how right she would be, you might not have laughed along with her.
"God, I wish," you snorted. "But let's be realistic here. I just want her to think that I look nice."
"The suit, then," came the confident reply. "It seems like her style – her type, I mean. How she'd like a girl to look."
"I trust you." You unhooked the pieces from the hanger that they rested on and loosely folded the noir fabric, dropping them on the very top of your packed suitcase. "If you want to seduce Handong with my dress, it's yours."
Seeing Dreamcatcher was well worth the day of travel that it took to get to the concert venue, especially considering that you would be meeting them at the end of it all. But the distance meant that you were already on crunch time, so as soon as you had chosen your outfit, you were zipping up your bags and heading out the door. There was no time to double-check anything, only enough to walk at a clipped pace to the train station and scan your tickets.
Once you were actually traveling, there wasn't much for you to do besides prepare in the best way that you could think of: a music marathon, naturally, Dreamcatcher title tracks blasting through your headphones until you could all but hear the fanchants in the background.
You could almost feel Kim Yoohyeon reaching out and grabbing your hand.
Out of all the songs that you listened to on your journey, you were undoubtedly most excited to watch your favorite, Scream, live. It just didn't get old, no matter how many times you listened to it.
It wouldn't be your first time seeing Dreamcatcher, but it would be to meet them. Quite frankly, you weren't sure how you were supposed to hold onto your sanity in those few seconds. How you were supposed to look Yoohyeon in the eyes and be able to form words at the same time; to tell the love of your life just how much she meant to you in a few seconds when truly, you felt as though an hour wouldn't fit such a speech.
You dwelled on that the whole trip, but you still hadn't reached a conclusion by the time that the train lurched to a final stop, or even when you had arrived at your hotel room and dumped all of your belongings in the entryway.
But as soon as you began to get ready, you were much too distracted to dwell on anything else.
"Fuck! Where's my shirt?"
You sat up straight, surveying the chaos that had suddenly manifested around you, but no starched white fabric stood out amongst it. Your once-neatly-packed suitcase now looked as though a tornado had ripped through it, tossing left and right pajamas, lightsticks, slogans, and socks in its wake; but there was absolutely no sign of the button-up that you could have sworn you packed to go under the suit.
You looked at your best friend in dismay, who was standing above you with her hands on her hips. "You're kidding, right?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" you grunted, one hand gesturing to the disaster zone that was the carpeted floor. Before she could reply, you were digging through your bag again.
