Summary: JiU teaches the reader about living in the moment at a Dreamcatcher concert.
♡
Though you loved the seven members of Dreamcatcher all the same, there was no doubt in your mind that your bias, Kim JiU, was the one who appreciated InSomnia the most.
It was for that reason you had decided to run a fansite for her. You followed JiU nearly every time she went out to document her life for the whole world to enjoy. Although you poured a lot of personal time and money into the hobby, you truly considered the experiences you received in return to be priceless. You always enjoyed the excuses to travel the globe or even to simply step away from work to enjoy some bright sunshine and small talk with your bias at fanmeetings.
The latest endeavor was a concert, and you were thoroughly excited. You had prepared all the usual items that you toted along to such events, selected an outfit, and found a pair of comfortable shoes. It was game time.
Before the concert, you had some trinkets that you had prepared to hand out to other InSomnia, so you paused near the venue entrance after a stop at the merch booth to pick up the night's exclusive offerings.
The word that you were giving out handmade items had gotten pretty far, so you were kept busy. You tugged on the bucket hat that you had purchased when you had a spare moment to do so. It was a sunny afternoon, and you wanted to give your eyes as much of a break as you could allow them.
Since you had been running a fansite for a long time, you had acquired several close InSomnia friends over the years. Most were attending the concert. One by one, as they arrived, they found and greeted you, often stopping to chat for a few minutes.
There was a lot of discussion about JiU's upcoming birthday project – subway ads, café events – and some comeback speculation. You engaged in the chatter happily before you ran out of items to give away.
When you had, you lined up to get inside. You fired off some social media posts thanking your followers for coming to visit you and expressing your excitement for the concert.
Instead of talking with those around you, you mostly stayed glued to your phone. You had a couple of quick snapshots to post, and there were always comments to reply to, anyway.
Once the doors opened, you managed to make your way through the crowd to the front-row seats that you'd secured in a timely manner. You used your phone camera once more to share some pictures of the stage, which were quickly well received. With a smile, you shoved your phone into your pocket and grabbed your camera to set it up.
When you finally felt all ready, it was showtime.
JiU spotted you quite quickly, since you were near the girls' entrance. They ran out to much thundering applause, and you happily began snapping away.
Though JiU was your main focus as always, you got a little carried away by the rest of the members. You would have to save the photos of them that you captured for their birthday posts. It was always good to think ahead, as per your philosophy.
Throughout the night, you got plenty of great shots. You were thrilled at the prospect of sharing them all as soon as possible – you really couldn't wait.
But towards the end of the concert, as often happened due to the age of your camera, you had to put in the spare battery you'd brought. You were about halfway to your savings goal for a new device, but until then, you would have to put up with subpar power supply. It was just a fact that you had come to accept.
You were annoyed, however, because it happened in the middle of Reason. You loved that song, and the photos that you got during it always turned out to be some of your personal favorites. Every member beamed with happiness and love – most of all your little ray of sunshine herself, in your opinion.
And, damn it, you realized as you fumbled to secure the second battery in its compartment: JiU was headed towards the side of the stage that you stood in front of.
When you finally looked up, there she was in front of you, sitting on the stage with her microphone dangling from a languid grasp between her bent knees. In the opposite hand, she held a singular piece of confetti. As your mouth parted in surprise, she extended the paper to you. "Do you like confetti?"
You couldn't hear her voice over the crowd, since she spoke in a normal tone, but you could read her lips perfectly.
A bit too shell-shocked to reply to such a random question, you just glanced from her face to her hand and back again.
JiU leaned forward further, waving the confetti in front of you until one of your shaky hands reached up and took it from her grasp. She smiled as you did so, and your heart jumped. Her expression would make the perfect photo.
But as you reached for your camera, JiU leaned down, holding onto the edge of the stage with one hand as the other found yours again. She took the device right out of your grasp, making you gasp. She ignored your expression and gave you a peaceful smile in response as she slung the strap around her neck.
It was her turn to sing another line, so she lifted her lilac microphone to her lips. Her eyes didn't leave you the whole time she sang. Her voice was beautifully powerful as it filled the entire concert hall with melodic prose, but you knew that in that moment, the sentiments were directed only towards you.
Cause you are the Reason.
In all the excitement of the night, out of the dedication that you had towards your hobby, you had forgotten about the one who was the motivation for your passion – but you instantly knew that you never would again.
Because everything, at every moment, was all for her.
Your Reason.
