CHAPTER EIGHT

"Where are we going?" You asked as you looked at Shinichiro while walking along the path with Mikey and Emma holding your hands at each side and Grandpa Sano just walking next to Mikey.

"We're going to the hospital to visit my mom" He replied.

"Would it be okay for me to go there?" You asked.

"Yeah of course! She'll be happy to meet you" He exclaimed.

Not so long later, all of you arrived at the hospital.

Grandpa Sano talked to the receptionist at the front desk and after a few minutes you were all allowed to go visit the patient.

You and Shinichiro sat outside the hospital room while Grandpa, Mikey and Emma went in first.

The two of you sat in opposite sides from one another, sitting quietly while listening to the clock tick.

"So uhm... Is your mother ill?" You asked, interrupting the silence.

He looked at you then gazed to the floor and gave you a small nod. "Yeah, she has a disease that affects her heart" He explained.

"Has she been getting better lately?"

"I'm not so sure. She hasn't been getting worse nor getting better. She fell sick a year after my dad's death, 3 years ago"

You stopped asking questions since you didn't want to go too deep into his family's business.

A brief moment went by in silence then he continued, "But I'm sure she'll get better pretty soon!" He said with a cheerful and hopeful smile, stretching his arms in the air. "She needs to come back home afterall"

Finally Mikey, Emma and Grandpa Sano came out of the room. "You two can go in now" Grandpa said.

You and Shinichiro got up from your seats and entered inside.

There, you saw a black haired woman sitting up from the hospital bed.

"Hey mom!" Shinichiro greeted her.

She smiled at Shinichiro and as soon as she averted her gaze to you, you greeted her. "Good morning ma'am"

She then nodded with a gentle smile.

You both sat on the chairs that were beside her bed.

"It's really nice meeting you, Mrs. Sano. My name is (Y/n) (L/n)" You introduced yourself and to your surprise, she already knew who you were.

"I know! It's great to finally meet you in person!" She beamed.

"Huh? You do?" You had a confused look plastered on your face.

"Shinichiro talks about you all the time whenever he comes to visit" Ms. Sano said making Shinichiro's eyes pop out as a faint blush spread across his face.

And you too, was beginning to turn red upon hearing that.

"Mom!" He yelled, his lips were twitching as well as his eyes.

She ignored him and grabbed her phone that was on the table and turned it on then started scrolling.

"He showed me a picture of you too! That's how I recognized you-" She was about to show you the picture but Shinichiro quickly pushed the phone away and covered it with the palm of his hand.

"Mom no!" He yelled again and started wrestle with his mother, trying to take it away from her but at the end she bonked him on the head and pushed his face away and handed the phone to you while Shinichiro struggled.

You looked at the screen and was stunned by the picture in the phone.

It was a picture of you asleep on the floor at the Sano's house with Emma and Mikey, both hugging you from both sides and a small blanket on top of the three of you.

"How'd you even get that picture saved into your phone anyway?!?" Shinichiro asked, face still red as a tomato.

"You wouldn't send me the photo so when you weren't listening I told your sister to steal your phone and send it to me" His mother admitted with a cheeky smirk.

The mother and son were bickering with each other but then suddenly stopped and turned to you when you started to laugh.

"Shinichiro, you're such a creep" You stated, covering your mouth as you giggled.

His eyes widened as his jaw slowly dropped while blinking over and over.

You stopped laughing then looked up at him and raised a brow and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You... Just called me Shinichiro..." He muttered, lowly pointing at himself as he did so.

"Yeah and what about it? Do you want me to call you idiot instead?"

"No that's not what I meant to say!"

The hospital room was then engulfed with laughters and happy faces.

"(Y/n) would you like to see Shinichiro's baby pictures?"

"Is that even supposed to be a question?! Show me!"

"MOM NO!"
