CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

5:30 AM
Slowly opening his eyes, Shinichiro was awaken by the ceiling lights shining at his eyes.

Forcefully lifting his hand up to his face, he placed it above his eyes, shielding himself from the bright lights.

Where was he? How'd he get here? When did he come here?

He soon came to a realization that he was at the hospital. He could barely remember anything. The only thing he could remember was the bodies on the ground.

Sitting up on his bed, he looked down and saw all the bandaids and bandages wrapped around some parts of his body. Guess he was beaten up pretty badly.

He scanned the room and there wasn't anyone there. He doesn't really mind that but, where are you?

Slowly getting off his bed, Shinichiro let out a small 'eek' when he lost his balance and almost fell. Good thing he got a hold of the table just in time.

His legs felt wobbly but he didn't just want to stay there.

Now, forcefully making his way down the hall using the wall as support.

His breathing was getting rapid and his mind was becoming hazy. He felt like he was gonna pass out again any second.

"Here's the bill" The doctor handed you a piece of paper.

You took a minute to scan the paper and looked at him with an awkward smile. "Would it be okay if I pay after he wakes up..? I was in a rush so I didn't bring any money with me"

There you are.

Forcing himself to take a few more steps, he used up all his strength left to call for you.

"(Y/n)!" He shouted.

You turned around and was stunned to see Shinichiro in the halls holding onto the walls.

"Shin..?" You took a step towards his direction but as soon as his grip on the walls started to loosen, you sprinted to him.

He was an inch away from touching the floor but luckily, he was caught in time.

He fell into your arms. You slowly and carefully crouched down and laid his head down on your thighs.

"(Y/n)..." He mumbled as he looked up to you with his eyes slightly squinted.

You gave him a curious yet worried look, nodding your head once for him to continue talking.

"The black dragon... We won.." He exclaimed.

You stared at him for a second before grinning softly at him. "I know, Shin. I know. Wakasa told me everything" Lowering your head down closer to his face, "You did so well!" You praised. "The black dragon is at the top now! The black dragons did it! You did it!"

The two of you shared a moment of laughter, celebrating Shinichiro's victory of defeating Akuma Inu.
