CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

8:20 PM
Resting your back on the couch next to Shinichiro, you two talked while the TV was still on.

"So when are your parents coming back?" He asked and you shrugged your shoulders.

"I'm not sure. They should be back by now" You replied.

"Well then you could just stay here a little longer" He suggested.

"Police officers have just identified each of the remaining bodies that have been found under the ocean from the airplane accident that happened earlier today at 7:35 PM." The news reporter said on the broadcast that was live right now.

You slowly shook your head and sighed. "No... No it's fine. I'll just return home and wait for them" You said.

"These are the pictures of each identified person."

The screen was then covered with 12 pictures of the remaining people in the airplane.

You and Shinichiro turned your focus to the TV and when you saw the screen, your heart dropped.

There on the screen, were 12 pictures of each person and two of them, were your parents.

Shinichiro stared at the screen, reading each name and came across the two people with the same last name as you.

His eyebrows furrowed. "Wait... (L/n).." He read their last names. "(Y/n)-" He turned to you and finally realized.

By the look on your face, he knew who those people were.

"Please tell me her full name" The doctor said to Shinichiro.

"(Y/n) (L/n)." Shinichiro replied and looked over his shoulder and just saw you there.

Sitting on the seat, staring blankly at the floor. Not a single emotion was seen through those dull eyes.

"Parents names are Oka (L/n) and Haruki (L/n). Time of death, 7:35 PM."

Everything suddenly went, quiet.

The only thing you heard were sounds of ringing from your ears.

It was getting louder and louder every time.

So... Loud.

Make it stop...

Shut up..

Shut up.

Just shut up—

"(Y/n)" A voice snapped you back to your trance.

You gazed up and found Shinichiro standing in front of you.

"I'll bring you home."

Arriving back to your house, you got off the backseat and unlocked the gate.

Shinichiro watched as you pushed open the gate and just as you were about to step inside, he grabbed your wrist.

"(Y/n)... Are you sure you want to stay here..? You could just stay at my place.." Shinichiro said in a low tone.

You gave him a blank look and then shook your head.

"I'm fine here, Shin. Thanks for bringing me home." You thanked him and released yourself from his grasp.

Closing the gate and then entered your house.

Shinichiro had no choice but to just leave you be and give you some space for a little while.

Taking out a cigarette and a lighter from his pocket, he lit it up and popped it into his mouth. Inhaling the air into his lungs and then huffed out black smoke.

He looked at your house one last time.

Not a single light was turned on.

He sighed and started his motorbike. And with that, he drove off.

The next day...
The funeral ceremony took place at the church.

Shinichiro in a black suit, sat in silence, watching people walk up to their loved one's picture frame, one after another.

He watched them show their emotions, their grief and sorrow to those who had sadly passed away from the airplane accident that happened yesterday.

After a while, Shinichiro finally spotted you.

Walking to the front, wearing a long sleeve black dress.

While others were shedding tears to show their grief, you showed no emotion. But black circles were starting to become visible under your eyes. Seems like you didn't really get enough sleep the night before.

You halted in the middle of your parent's picture frame and raised your hands up to your face.

Clasping your hands together as you closed your eyes.

After a minute, you put down your hands and returned to your seat.

Shinichiro didn't have any plans on going up to you or anything. He told himself to give you space since that's all you need right now. He only came here today to give his prayers to your parents.

Right after the ceremony ended, he went back to his house while you went to yours.
