CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

You didn't even care about where you were running off to. You just let your legs do all the work and at the end, you found yourself at the same pond that Shinichiro had brought you to on your graduation day. You sat on the ground and brought your knees up to your chest, hugging them as you let out small sobs.

Not sure how long you've been there but it felt like atleast an hour.

Raising your hand to your cheek, you touched it and immediately flinched.

It still stings. That slap was pretty harsh.

Suddenly, sounds of leaves crunched and footsteps got louder and louder.

You turned around and was surprised to see... Takeomi?

The two of you just stared at each other in silence and after what felt like a minute, you shifted your gaze back to the pond.

"What are you doing here?" You asked. "Did HE call you here?" You asked with a slight annoyance in your tone.

"Which 'he' are you talkin' bout?" He raised a brow in confusion. "Anyways I just happened to pass by and heard a woman weeping, thought I was getting haunted by a ghost so I came to check it out" He exclaimed then sat down on the ground at your left. "So, why are you out here crying?"

"None of your business."

"If it's something involving Shinichiro then yes, it is my business so tell me what happened"

You were quiet for a second but finally gave in afterward. "Shin and I got into an argument.."

"About?"

"Shin doesn't like how much my male colleague is around me." You started while Takeomi listened. "But how the fuck am I supposed to avoid my colleague when he literally works at the same building and has the same schedule as me? We also have a big project together so there's no way I can ignore him!"

"Everyday after work I'd come home to get yelled at by him. I'm so sick and tired of it... It's been like this for a whole week..." You ranted. "It's fine when you, Wakasa or Benkei talk to me so I don't get what's so wrong when other men talk to me.."

Takeomi took out a cigarette and lit it up with a lighter. He inhaled the smoke then exhaled deeply.

"We're his friends so he knows that we wouldn't try to make a move on his girl. Not like we're interested in you or anything, just saying that he trusts us with you. But for other men, he doesn't know what their intentions are" He exclaimed.

He averted his eyes to the side and saw you facing the ground while hugging your knees.

A sigh escaped past his lips. "Listen (Y/n), I don't know much about relationships but you just need to understand that Shinichiro's just trying to protect you"

"You were the first person to accept his feelings. He got rejected 20 times in the past and since you're the only that has ever actually loved him back. He's scared that some other guy will take you away from him.
